Tasty Treats & Snacks from Newman’s Own Organics
Disclosure: I was provided tasty treats & snacks from Newman’s Own Organics for review. Any and all opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced.
As my children grow older I try to make sure that I am providing them with food that is tasty and that’s good for them as well. If you’re like me you are probably very familiar with Newman’s Own but not so much with Newman’s Own Organics. NOO started as a division of Newman’s Own but the two separated in 2001 into two companies, but with different lines of products. I’ve been wanted to increase our family’s use of organic products and I was so excited when NOO agreed to send me a box of various products to review on my blog. My box included at least seven different products and they all looked so yummy we couldn’t wait to try them out. I’d like to share with you some of our favorites.
Of all the things we had in the box there were lots of choices and lots to share as well. I’ll start with the Newman O’s. They are the chocolate sandwich cookies. Usually I don’t like chocolate sandwich cookies from other brands but I was drawn to this because it was an organic version. They come in five different flavors. They even have a wheat free, dairy free version so you can still enjoy cookies if you have those food allergies. I was surprised at how popular these were with my nephews. They loved that and even asked about getting more from their moms. These were great for snack time at school or at home.
We all also enjoyed the dried fruits. These would be used in so many different ways. They were perfect for snacks in the kids lunch boxes. They were great for an after dinner snack or in between meals. They also work great for baking as well. There’s just so much way to use them and your family will love them. The apricots were perfect, they were not too dried out that they tasted like you were eating paper. They were plump and juicy. These are a must add to your snack pantry because you get to enjoy these fruits even when they are not in season. The berry blend are great in a basic cookie recipe and it was my husband’s favorite after workout snack. They could also be used in lite salad.
We also enjoyed the pretzels a lot. My mother in law was visiting and she ate the entire bag of the honey wheat pretzels on her own. She really liked that they were a wheat flavor. She even packed some up as a travel snack. These were great to give the kids instead of candy or sweets when they asked about a snack. I am very surprised at how much my children enjoy pretzels because I didn’t start to enjoy them until I was a junior in college. We snack on these while watching television or when we had long trips in the car. NOO has eight different varieties of pretzels. Including a high protein variety and they come salted and unsalted.
Finally I’ll share about the Licorice that we received. My son ate all the Pomegranate ones over the course of two weeks. He really like the texture and they did taste great. I don’t eat black licorice but my nieces and nephews ate them. I just can’t bring my self to eat the black ones they remind me of medicine. LOL. The sour cherry ones were also good, I think I siked myself out about them being sour but they were really good.
