New Episodes of Nature Cat Coming to PBS Kids
PBS Kids Emmy Nominated animated hit show, Nature Cat has new episodes coming on May, 23rd. My family and I had the opportunity to check out two episodes before they premiered on PBS Kids and I have to say we really loved it. Even the older kids were excited about checking out the episodes and learning more about this new show.
Nature Cat tells the story of Fred, a house cat who dreams of exploring the great outdoors. In each episode, once his family leaves for the day, Fred transforms into Nature Cat, “backyard explorer extraordinaire”. Nature Cat can’t wait to get outside for a day of backyard nature excursions and adventures, but there’s one problem: He’s still a house cat with no instincts for nature itself. With the help of his animal friends, Nature Cat embarks on action-packed adventures that include exciting missions full of nature investigation, “aha” discovery moments and humor, all while inspiring children to go outside and “play the show.” Nature Cat’s adventures take him through his family’s big backyard, into the woods, and then into the “four corners” of his natural world: parks, ponds, caves, gardens, marshes, ravines, swamps, canyons, nature preserves and mountains.
One of my favorite things about the show is how it promotes getting outside and nature. I feel like my kids don’t get out as much as they should, and we have been exploring all over while watching the show, so it helps encourage them to get out and start adventures of their own. We’ve even gone back and watch some of the episodes on the PBS Kids Nature Cat Video library, while enjoying some of the games and other DIY projects on the site.
Don’t forget to tune in on May 23rd, to your local PBS Kids station to catch the two new episodes of Nature Cat. Check your local listing for approximate times.
The Great Grasshopper Race
Hal’s grasshopper buddy Dustin Hopman will be competing today in the Great Grasshopper Race. Hal has been training him, and now there is no doubt that Dustin is ready to go! But before the race starts, Dustin inexplicably hops off into the woods. It’s up to the gang to find Dustin and bring him back before the race starts. But looking for a small green bug turns out to be more easily said than done!
Fall For Hal
The first day of fall is Hal’s favorite day of the year. It’s when he always goes on his First Day of Fall Scavenger Hunt. But there is a big problem this year. Hal is sick and can’t get out of bed! When it looks like Hal is in for some major disappointment today, Nature Cat comes up with a great idea: they will bring fall, and all the items on his scavenger hunt list, to Hal!
