Dept of Sweet Diversions Apple Butter Review
The first time I tried apple butter, my husband and I had just moved to North Carolina with our daughter. He took a job at Winston-Salem State University because he wanted to be closer to his family in the south. We found at Cracker Barrel restaurant close to our house and they gave us some with our biscuits. I’d never had it before but he’d grown up eating it all the time. It was delicious. I had the opportunity to try a jar of apple butter from the Dept. of Sweet Diversions for inclusion in my holiday gift guide.
Dept of Sweet Diversions was commissioned to create a custom holiday gift for Suite 705, this commission also lead to the inspiration to use 100% Agave to sweeten this apple butter. The end result is The Suite Surprise Apple Butter. I’ve never had apple butter sweetened with agave before so I didn’t know what to expect, when my jar finally arrived the only thing missing were some warm buttermilk biscuits. Personally I only use apple butter on biscuits but I know you can use them for quite a few uses in the kitchen and since it’s fall it’s perfect to use it in your fall dishes. I saved my jar for Thanksgiving morning. Although I wanted to bake with it I figured it would be great for a quick breakfast on Thanksgiving. Our family eat about half the jar that morning on warm biscuits. It was perfect. My husband said it reminded him of the apple butter his grandmother use to make, it tastes home-made and not like it’s been a jar for months. We all loved it. Dept of Sweet Diversions has also made it easy for you to gift their products as well.
A 6oz jar can be purchased online at www.departmentofsweetdiversions.com for $12. It costs $14 for a gift-wrapped jar and $18 for the gift set containing four different 1.5oz jams. You can also purchase sample jars in ornament boxes for $7.50, perfect for gift giving. You can also connect with the brand on Facebook
