There have been multiple studies on the effects of industrial hemp derived CBD oil supplements lately, and most of them have provided surprisingly good results in both nutritional and healthcare tests.
We already know that chronic pain, depression, anxiety and even certain skin issues can be successfully controlled via cannabidiol supplementation and topical application, but is there even hope for autistic individuals to benefit from any of CBD’s effects?
Israeli Research Presents Evidence and Hope
According to a certified and confirmed Israeli research conducted on autistic children, it was found that over 80% of the children tested showed significant improvement on being treated with cannabidiol or CBD.
The improvements seen in these children were actually more profound than the effects of traditional medication.
The CBD Oil Had No Psychoactive Properties in It
The sixty autistic children on whom the experiment was conducted by the Shaare Zedek Hospital’s Pediatric Neurology Department, were all treated with CBD that had no psychoactive properties.
There was 1% THC (the ingredient that makes us experience a high on smoking weed) in the medication, which is not even nearly enough to have any psychoactive effects.
The Effects Observed on the Children
After being treated with hemp seeds CBD oil for about seven months or more, the parents began to notice a marked improvement in their children who were participating in the experiment.
They were each given a questionnaire to answer about the effects of the CBD oil on the behavior of their autistic children, and the following was concluded from those answers:
Reduced Problematic Behavior – About 80% of the parents reported that the children had started exhibiting less and less problematic behavior with time.
Improvements in Behavior – A general improvement in behavior, in addition to the decrease of problematic tendencies in the children was reported by 62% of the parents.
Improvement in Communication – Roughly 50% of the children showed remarkable improvement in their communication skills, post seven months or more.
Decreased Anxiety – Although twenty children in the study did not have any anxiety to begin with, the rest of the forty did. Out of the forty, about sixteen children experienced a significant decrease in their anxiety levels.
Can It Open the Window for Medical CBD in the US?
Medical or supplemental CBD is legal now in all fifty states, ever since the Farm Bill 2018 became official. It had already opened up doors for widespread production and usage of CBD products, but it looks like the applications of the hemp seeds CBD products could actually be useful in medical treatment for autistic children as well.
Wholesalers like Cope are famous for selling high CBD hemp seeds in the United States, so they can prove to be helpful in procuring a more potent form of cannabidiol supplement for autistic children in particular.
There have also been multiple other instances where cannabis-derived products have managed to help people with other CNS disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease, for example. This latest research will hopefully be refined and turned into a more potent medicine than what is available now to treat autism, Tourette’s, Parkinson’s and many other disorders of the central nervous system.
