August Releases from Cinedigm
It’s been a summer of great releases from Cinedigm and this month brought some great options for everyone. I received three DVDs from Cinedigm for review. The three titles I received are; Shuriken School The Complete Series, Mythbusters Collection 11 and Summer In February. Any opinions expressed are my own and should not be influenced.
I’d never heard of Shuriken School before but I figured the kids would love it because it’s a cartoon. I was so right. They couldn’t wait to put it on and see what it was all about. Within two episodes they were hooked. The kids watched the entire series a week during spring break. The just loved following along with Eizan and his crew at ninja crew. My six year old son loves it the most because he’s been into Karate ever since attending a birthday party at a Karate Studio for one of his classmates. He’s been wanting lessons ever since. Although I don’t think he knows exactly what it all entails. The set includes four dvds with all 26 episodes of the series.
About Shuriken School
SHURIKEN SCHOOL follows the extraordinary adventures of a 10-year-old boy named Eizan Kaburagi and his friends during their first year at a ninja school. They invent the craziest weapons, using highly original components. They learn to pass through walls, disappear in clouds of smoke and fly over rooftops. The methods at this school are not particularly orthodox, and anything can happen, as absurd as it might seem. Get caught up in the action as Eizan and his eccentric classmates perfect their ninja skills in all 26 adventurous episodes!
For the fans of Science and educational programming Mythbusters Collection 11 includes ten episodes and more than seven hours of scientific mayhem. My sister and one of my nephews are the perfect people for this dvd. They love learning about Science and how things work. I like the show because they are using fun and science together. This collection has lots of explosions, a duck take airplane and so much more stuff.
About Mythbusters
Continuing their legacy as myth-busting masterminds, head Mythbusters Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage tackle the world’s mysteries in Mythbusters Collection 11. Exploring all forms of unusual – from bazookas and toilet bombs to duct-tape airplanes and rock sleds – this dynamic duo leaves no mystery unsolved. Additionally, this collection features Jamie and Adam’s creative attempt to create a Newton’s cradle using wrecking balls. With a total run time of 430 minutes, this DVD has an SRP of $29.93. Street date: August 5, 2014.
I love romantic movies. I also am a sucker for happy endings, unfortunately that wasn’t the case with Summer in February. Often though love triangles almost never end well and this one was always heading for tragedy. The movie is actually based on the true life story and the widely acclaimed novel with the same title. Two friends fall for the same woman and of course things could never end well. This is a great girls night movie, of just to snuggle on the couch and enjoy after a long day.
About Summer in February
A sweeping romance set at a bohemian artist colony on the picturesque coast of pre-war England, Summer in February is based on the true story of painter Sir Alfred Munnings (Cooper) and his blue-blood best friend Gilbert (Stevens). Munnings rises to become one of the premier artists of his time, winning the affection of beauty Florence Carter-Wood (Browning). But when Gilbert falls for Florence as well, a love triangle emerges with tragic consequences.
