My thoughts:
I like the idea of having a daily devotional. The description of this book really drew me in because it talks about intimacy with God and knowing him. Often we are so focused on serving God that we don’t focus on knowing him and building a truly intimate relationship with him. I want to close my eyes, prayer and read about God, ask him to help me understand the words and teaching of the bible. I like this yearly devotional because each day I open it up and read the Bible passage and the reflection question. I do wish it wasn’t already dated so if you missed a day you don’t have to skip around. I just received the book a few weeks ago so I couldn’t read the start of the book.
Nothing is repetitive in this book, each one different and though provoking. It starts with the bible scripture, then Weaver starts telling a story whether it’s about her life, other religions and cultures, what if situations, and bible parables, then it ends with another bible verse and a question for reflection. You are guided to think more and evaluate how the devotional for that day relates to you. This is a great way to get back into or to start reading your bible. I like to start with the verse at the beginning and read some of the other verses. This book is great for any Christian woman. Even if you are not reading the bible with this its a great way to get someone started with building towards an intimate relationship with God.
