Lunch Swapping with Fresh Express
Disclosure: I am a Moms Meet Moms Ambassador Blogger and I participated in a campaign with Fresh Express. Any and all opinions expressed are my own.
Ever so often my husband starts talking about making changes to his diet and doing what needs to be done to get in shape. This time when he said it I had just got the opportunity to participate in the Moms Meet Fresh Express 30 Salad Swap and I knew that’s what I could do to encourage him to at least start somewhere. So for the past 30 days he’s been swapping out his lunch with a salad instead. We are already very familiar with Fresh Express so it wasn’t like it was really something new. It was just a matter of getting him to make the swap and stick to it for at least 30 days.
The Fresh Express salad kits come in a lot of different varieties so you have a few options for meal time. I always make sure I pick up a Caesar Lite Kit for when we are having dinner, I also get the baby spinach for fresh spinach options. This time we also tried a spring mix and just regular hearts of lettuce for our salad choices. Each night he would put the salad in the bowl and boil an egg for his salad as well. Before leaving for work in the mornings he would slice up turkey deli meat and the egg over the salad, and take it to work. He also only uses a limited amount of dressing on his salad which is pre-portioned out in small cups. Here’s a tip from our home:
I use these formula dispensers to portion out my husband’s salad dressing. We don’t own a special salad bowl set so one of these comes in very handy and it’s a great way for me to make sure he isn’t using a half of bottle of salad dressing on his salad.
I like keeping my salads simple and easy. My husband prefers Chef’s Salads and I like Caesar Salads but when I am home just some lettuce with sliced eggs is what we enjoy as a family and it’s how we get the kids to eat their salad as well.
I like cooking the Spinach packs like this instead of only using it as a salad. It’s healthy and I know all the nutrients are still in the Spinach. The Fresh Express Salad packs are just the right amount for our family for dinner. Overall my husband was very successful with the swap. Fresh Express salads vary in price and can range from $2 to $4 dollars a bag. Fresh Express products can be conveniently found at Target stores across the country and many other major retailers.
