The last couple of years have been stricken by Covid-19 restrictions and lockdowns, and everything from kindergarten to work to college classes had moved online. In fact, there are some children, workmates, and young adults who have never seen their work colleagues in person! But 2022 is different. While the pandemic grinds on with new variants causing infection flare-ups, the widespread vaccination uptake has allowed the world to return to something approximating normal. And this is especially true of graduation ceremonies, which are returning to in-person – and are equally deserving of a special celebration afterwards! Let’s take a look at eight amazing graduation trends for 2022.
Themed Parties
When you graduate you might be getting a toe-hold into a profession which has a set way of dressing. Why not make this the basis of your graduation party, so all your guests can enjoying ‘playing dress-up’ as your new way of life? Doctors can get everyone into scrubs, and you can even make a cake in the shape of a stethoscope or x-ray so the theme can pervade every part of your celebration.
Gratitude Jars
Few people have made it through the pandemic years without the help of family and/ or friends. Why not make your graduation party a time of gratitude too, creating personalized gratitude jars to give them? Fill pretty jars with their favorite treats, party favors and pop in a beautiful note letting them know just how much you appreciate their help over the last few months or years.
Balloon Party Arch
A balloon arch is a great background for photos, providing a fun pop of color and cheer to your venue – and they don’t cost a lot if your budget is constrained. And at the end of the event the arch’s balloons can be given away as mementos of the occasion.
Last Party
If you have managed to spend time with roommates and fellow graduands, and want to capture one last memorable time together, why not book a weekend away somewhere relaxing for the days after your ceremony, before you all spread apart and begin your working lives? A sleepy cottage in the woods, a city break to one of the US’s historical sites, or even a cabin in a natural park are all great destinations.
Night on the Town
Similar to the above, but more for those looking for excitement and only with a night to enjoy, a night on the town in your university city is a great chance to revisit hot-spots, relive good memories and make some new ones. Hire a limo to make sure you can get to all your preferred spots: check out limo rentals New Jersey here.
Photo Station
Set up a photo station to make some fun final memories of your classmates before your lives take you on different paths. If you can, use Polaroid cameras for instant snaps, which the subjects can sign or write on – you can then string them up so the photos act as an extra layer of decoration!
Book a Fancy Restaurant
With the input and agreement of the whole graduating cohort, why not chip in to hire a fancy restaurant for the evening? Many restaurants are struggling to keep going even after the lifting of restrictions and will offer you a good price per head for a guaranteed large party – it could cost less than you think!
Hit the Beach
A day at the beach, enjoying the best of New Jersey’s beautiful shoreline is the perfect punctuation to your college years. Take along a barbecue (check regulations first, of course), some cold beers and spritzers, and spend the day lazily paddling, sunbathing and generally relaxing before readying yourselves for whatever comes next.
