I love to travel. I found over the years that it’s important to have the right things with you wherever you go. Whether you fly domestically or internationally, these items will make your experience so much better.
A Decent Suitcase
Sometimes you get what you pay for. This is true for suitcases too. Cheap suitcases are more likely to break wheels, the handles aren’t as sturdy and forget about the zippers lasting forever. If you travel frequently, investing in a quality suitcase is worth every penny.
A Roomy Toiletries Case
Need a place for makeup, toothbrush cases, toothpaste and deodorant? Get a toiletries bag big enough for all of it. They make cases with different compartments that come apart too. But a roomy case will ensure you have everything you need all in one spot.
A Good Pair of Leggings
With a great pair of leggings, you can dress up, dress down, or just hang out in your hotel room. Leggings have come a long way, and many styles look more like skinny jeans than glorified ballet tights. I love leggings that hold everything in and when paired with a long shirt, they help me look and feel great. Add a pair or two to your wardrobe and don’t forget them when you travel.
Walking Shoes
While I know you want your cute flats and heels for a fun trip, don’t forget about your boring walking shoes. These will be a lifesaver in the airport, and if you plan to walk around any long distances on your trip. Walking shoes ensure your feet don’t hate you when your trip is over.
Technology Chargers
Have you ever gotten to the airport and realized you forgot your phone charger? This may not seem like that big of a deal, but when you need your phone to stay connected to family and business, the inconvenience can become more of a big issue. This is especially true if you have a phone with a less common charger port. While you may be able to get something delivered fast through Amazon Locker in the city you’re staying in, it doesn’t mean you can go days without a recharge.
GPS
Need help getting around? Use the GPS on your Smartphone or get a GPS device. These can be a lifesaver when you hit bad traffic and want an alternate route. Plus, you’ll never get lost again. I love using GPS when I head to a new town or go on a road trip far away to find out what restaurants and activities are nearby. It helps me find good local eateries and boutiques instead of sticking to chain restaurants and stores.
E-Reader
Some people love to read books on the go, but if you travel frequently, you probably know that lugging books gets heavy. And while a smartphone with the right apps is a good option, the battery often drains more quickly than an e-reader like a Kindle. Also, if you want to download a lot of options, those books take up valuable space on your phone.
Sleep Mask
You never know if your hotel room will suffer from too much light seepage in the windows and under the door. It’s best to get a good sleep mask so you can sleep better at night. It has the added benefit of giving you a little shuteye on those long redeye flights as well. Find one with soft material that has enough coverage to block out the light.
Noise Cancelling Headphones
Don’t like noisy airplanes? You may not be able to help if there’s a screaming baby, but you can help your ears. These special headphones are great to cancel out noise from people and from the airplane itself. If you’ve ever been stuck in a seat right behind the wing of the airplane, you can appreciate how helpful these headphones can be.
Quality Reusable Water Bottle
Traveling means that you’ll be out of your normal routine. Dehydration is a problem because it can leave you tired, headachy and more stressed. By carrying around a quality reusable water bottle, you can take good, clean water with you wherever you go. This really helps in the airport as well. Bring it in your carryon empty so you can fill it up after you’ve gone through security.
