What Daddy Did Today Review

I have mentioned before on my blog that we always try to encourage our children to read.  Even our toddler who’s not talking yet is getting all the basics.  My husband is the main story teller/reader in our house.  He does all the voices and make the kids laugh and have lots of fun.  So when I got a chance to review the book What Daddy Did Today I jumped at the chance.  I knew it would be perfect for him to read to the kids.  My husband has a long drive to work and he leaves so early the kids are still asleep when we leaves and by the time he is home they have just enough time to have dinner with him, take a bath and have a bedtime story read to them.  They are always asking me ‘Where is daddy?’, ‘What does daddy do at work?’, ‘When is daddy coming home?’.  I figured this book would be perfect for their father to read to them and tuck them in.  Boy was I right.

This amazing bedtime story is about a father and he outlines what he did today.  It’s a wonderfully written story about a father doing amazing courageous things from the time he leaves his home in the morning till he returns home to his family.  He begins by telling about his heroic rescue of a kitten to start his day, then there was the talking lion.  The lion lead him to mean dragon trying to eat her cub.  He defeated the dragon and then got on a hot air balloon ride that took him into space where he meet a sad planet and he helped cheered it up.  His balloon got so high it popped on a star and when he was falling he landed on an enormous butterfly.

The story continues on this amazing journey of a father and all the things he did during the day so he could get home in time to tuck in his kids.  I watched my husband read this to my kids beaming with so much pride, they all laughed and enjoyed the story so much.  My husband has already told me that he loves the book and it’s his favorite.  Since reading the story the first time he has already read it to them four other times.  Its the first book that the kids and hubby grabs when its time for a story.  I think they like all the adventures in the story and it makes them feel great thinking their daddy does all the things in the story.  I know you little ones will enjoy this wonderful book as much as mine did.
