When we closed on our house this summer, there were so many things I wanted to do. My wish list is still a mile long with things I want to do to make this feel more like home and less like a house we brought from someone. When I was thinking about ways I wanted to improve our house, adding technology was at the top of the list. I’ve already added smart light bulbs, and my Eve Room has kept me on top of the air quality in our home.
Disclosure: I received this product for review purposes from Eglato, any opinions expressed are my own.
Movie to a house from an apartment has lots of different challenges, some we never even thought of when we started the process of buying. Once we closed on our house, we realized we now had lawn care and other yard maintenance. Since our children are still too young to take on these tasks, it would be up to my husband and myself. When the opportunity to test two product from Elgato arised I jumped at the chance.
Super Easy Set-Up
I can’t believe how easy it was to set up the Eve Aqua out of the box. Just like the Eve Room, the directions was super easy to follow. Once I took the device out of the box I read the directions and got ready set up. This requires two double batteries that were included in the box.
Push on the outer edge of the Eve Aqua to expand and open the battery compartment. Pop in the batteries and that’s it your Eve Aqua is ready to set up.
Download the Eve for HomeKit App
Download the Eve for HomeKit App from the Apple App Store. I didn’t have to download the since I already had it installed on my phone. If it’s your first time using the app, follow the directions included in your Eve Aqua box, if you already have a device set up in the app like I did, simply go to settings and tap on add accessory. The app will search and find the accessory to set up. Follow the steps and you’ll be ready to start using before you know it.
Works with Different Hose Sizes
The Eve Aqua works with most standard hoses without needing anything different. They did included a few extra pieces in the box in case you need an adapter for a smaller hose. Once it’s connected to your water spout and hose you’re ready to set your schedule and let the device handle the rest.
Control and Insight at Your Fingertips
With the Eve Aqua you have control and insight at your fingertips. You can use your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, the button on the device, or using your voice with Siri. It’s really up to you how you decide how you control the device. When you open the app, you can gain valuable insights into your water consumption and watering patterns. Eve Aqua works independently of any wireless connection and has a child lock to prevent unwanted watering.
HomeKit Enabled
Eve accessories are exclusively HomeKit-enabled. Your personal data is under no circumstances captured, saved to a cloud, or sold. Even when accessing your home remotely via your home hub, all data is end-to-end encrypted and stored on your iPhone or iPad. Superior privacy, advanced security, and absolute peace of mind – it’s all here.
Eve Aqua Requirements
Eve requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 11.4 or later.
To control this HomeKit-enabled accessory, iOS 11.4 or later is recommended. To automate and control this accessory while away from home, you need a HomePod, an Apple TV with tvOS 11 or later, or an iPad with iOS 11 or later set up as a home hub.
Great For Gifting
One thing I’ve learned in life is that once you’ve experienced something you gain insight. Before becoming a homeowner I would probably give the same gift life a toaster or some wine glasses, now that I own a home, I know there are so many areas for gifting that gets overlooked. If you’re looking for a gift idea for someone this holiday season, who owns their own home, really anyone who has a garden or a nice lawn, the Eve Aqua is a great gift option. You can pick up one online from retailers like Amazon and Best Buy. At $99.99 it’s a good price point for a high quality gift that the receiver will love.
If you’re planning on picking up the Eve Aqua for yourself to help you automate your home, I should mention the device can not be outside below freezing and when the weather calls for frost. For someone living in Maryland I recently removed mines and put it back inside since I won’t be doing any watering in the winter months. If you live in a warmer climate, you should be able to use your device as long as it’s not super cold outside.
