Tips for Maintaining Natural Hair for Girls

I used to think that maintaining my natural hair would be so much easier than my usual routine of getting a relaxer. I had convinced myself that it was so easy to just wash your natural hair, style it and go. Since becoming natural myself two years ago, I realize I was telling myself a lie. It became evident how hard it actually was when my daughter started school and I realized that she needed to have her hair styled weekly for school.
Just For Me recently introduced a line of natural hair products, using nourishing natural ingredients to help soften, gently detangle curls and coils, and add moisture back into your child’s hair. I’ve written about my experience using their natural hair milk products in the past, so I was excited about trying the newest products.
I didn’t know about co-washing until I started my own natural hair journey. I was guilty of just washing my daughter’s hair with shampoo, even missing conditioning as well. It was a bad way to take care of her hair.
The Creamy Butter Moisturizer softens and hydrates hair, adding back life after shampooing. Shampoos can strip hair of it’s natural oils, making it brittle and easy to break. Adding a moisturizer after washing helps put back moisture that was lost, and strenghtens hair for styling.
The Styling Smoothie helps with daily styiling of your child’s hair, it protects and while restoring their curls. A smoothie is perfect for twist and curl hair styles that helps protect is from breakage and damage. These are also great for afros and open hair styles since it keeps the hair from drying out.
Leave-In Conditioner helps to detangle hair and perfect for daily use. I use a leave-in conditioner with my sons and my daughter. It keeps hair soft and managable, while hydrating and taming frizz and curls.
