I love reading stories to my children. I especially love when I can get those stories on my iPad, making it so much more easier and I don’t have to worry about the books getting worn out or torn pages. Most recently we got to try out The Three Little Piggies Interactive Book App on iTunes. It was my first time ever trying an interactive app so I was excited to see how it worked. As soon as I downloaded it the kids wanted to give it a try. They were so excited by the story and so carried away with the little piggies. I watched as they laughed and followed along with the story. I saw them get scared when the wolf arrived and how happy they were with the end. They didn’t know how much fun they were in for yet.
Next I started showing them the different features of the app which includes blowing into the microphone to huff and puff like the wolf, tilting the iPad to start the animations, tap the piggies to see them play on the tire swing, jump rope or volleyball, tapping objects to see them move, exploring the items in the houses and helping the piggies build a fence. They really liked this part the best. My son loved being the big bad wolf and huffing and puffing and blowing down the houses. My daughter played the piggies and had fun with the girl piggy the most. They prefer’d having the story read to them by the voice over and playing at the same time. You can also just auto play the story with word for word highlighting or you can use read by yourself mode. All them offer their own features and are fun for the kids.
My kids really like all the interaction in this app especially the wolf. The story was fun and exciting and presented in such a different way that it kept them interested and excited from the start to the end. I am sure your little ones will enjoy the app and the story very much. It does require an iPhone 4 or 5, iPod touch, iPad 2, the new iPad or an iPad mini with iOS 4 or later. Find out more about the app in the iTunes store.
