Tempest Book Review

I was given to opportunity to read this novella by Jenna-Lynne Duncan.  I didn’t know what to expect and I have to admit that I loved it.  Maybe it’s all the supernatural elements or that it’s set in Louisiana but I just loved reading about Hayden Boudreaux.  I don’t want to give any of the book away but the book is about Hayden and his family.  You find out early in the book that him and his family have supernatural abilities.  They call it a curse and in the first pages of the book you learn that he is given an opportunity to get rid of the curse.  The only problem it involves doing something that Hayden isn’t comfortable with at all.  When he’s discussing it with his parents his brother Luke overhears and the can’t believe that Hayden is even debating weather or not they should be doing this.  I bet you can guess that Hayden and Luke bump heads often.

The brothers are like two sides of the same coin.  They are so alike and so different at the same time.  They are both hunters, and to give a brief view into what a hunter is; they work for the dark underworld.  Their jobs is to keep the balance between their world and the human world. They are like clean up men or like Men In Black with supernatural powers.  Luke is hot headed and although he is the youngest he feels like he knows better than Hayden.  Luke is charming and feels like he is more talented than his brother even though his brother is way older than him.  Hayden is more old fashioned and he is a careful planner until he meets Adriana, the human girl he is supposed to kill in order to break his family’s curse.  The only thing is he’s not his hunter self around her.  Soon he realizes that he’s in love and he vows to protect her at all costs.

I loved this story it was fun, romantic and left you wanting more.  To me those are all the makings of a great book.  I was so upset when I got to the end I just wanted to read more about these characters and see where they were going and what was going to happen to them.  I didn’t realize that there was a book before this one and once I did I wanted to read that one as well.  There are also two other books scheduled to be released this year.  One due out in February.  If you’re looking for a quick book to read then you have to add this one to your read list.  You won’t be disappointed and you’ll be excited and anxious about what happens next.  What happens to Adriana and Hayden?  What their relationship is doing to their family and what is his brother Luke really up too?  There’s so much to look forward to and I’m sure its going to be great.
