Teen Beach 2 Movie Review
This year my kids made the transition from Disney Jr to regular Disney Channel. They are getting older so shows like Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, Jake and the Neverland Pirates don’t hold their interest anymore. When the first Teen Beach Movie debuts on the Disney Channel my kids wasn’t old enough to watch it and fully understand the movie. Now that they are older they can sit and watch those movies. We’d been waiting for the sequel once they saw the previews on Disney Channel. Luckily for them Disney Channel showed the first movie lots of time leading up to the June 26th premiere of Teen Beach 2.
Teen Beach 2 was released on Disney DVD the same day it premiered on the Disney Channel. We received a promotional copy for review. Any opinions expressed are our own.
In Teen Beach 2 Lela and Tanner flip the script and end up back in Mack and Brady’s world. Mack made a huge impression on Layla and she slowly started to change. When she finds her necklace she takes it as a sign that she needs to find Mack. Teen Beach 2 is full of awesome dance scenes, lots of brand new music and a great story line. Personally I believe it’s a movie the whole family can enjoy. I love musicals and this one reminds me of older films like Cry Baby and Grease but with that Disney feel. At the heart of this movie was a great message about being yourself and not letting other people define your role. Lela was struggling with going back to the role she played in the movie before meeting Mack and after spending time in a different era, she realized she wanted more. She didn’t want to return to the movie that was already made and in the end she created her own destiny.
Both of my older children loves Teen Beach 2 for different reasons. My son likes the music and my daughter likes the dancing and story line. I like that it’s a wholesome and fun movie they can enjoy and I know it’s positive. I have to also note that I wasn’t thrilled with the ending when I first saw the movie but after about the fifth time (yes my kids watch it about four times a week) it started to grow on me. If you haven’t caught the movie yet be sure to check out the Disney Channel website for showtimes. Teen Beach 2 is also available on DVD for purchase in stores. The DVD features never before seen bonus scenes and an exclusive friendship necklace. Be sure to check out the Teen Beach 2 Soundtrack as well, available wherever music is sold.
