Susie’s Hope DVD Review
When I was a little girl I was attacked by a dog twice, the first time I was staying at my god parents house and they had three dogs, I’d been there a few times and never had a problem with the dogs but this one occasion I was in the back yard hiding from my god sister and I heard something running towards me, I turned around just in time to see of their German Shepard’s running towards me, I didn’t have time to even get up and run, he had jumped on me before I knew it and was barking and scratching me. All I could think of was hiding my face, so I put my arms up to cover my face and then I felt him bite me on my arm. I was screaming at the top of my lungs for help, crying and trying to cover my face. I closed my eyes because I was so scared. I don’t know what happened after I closed my eyes, when I finally opened them my god father was carrying me into their house. I remember him asking me questions and trying to get me to stop crying, my god mother was a nurse so she looks at my cuts and the dog bite and cleaned me up. I was so terrified I asked them to call my parents so I could go home. I didn’t go back and visit with them again. It wasn’t that I was mad at them I was just terrified of their dogs. Even when my family and I would go pass their house I would walk as far from their gate as possible to avoid the dogs. That fear of dogs stayed with me for a while and when I was finally getting over it, I got bite by a dog a second time. Ever since I’ve been very leery of all dogs, no matter what the size. Susie’s Hope is the true life story of pit bull attack survivor Donna Lawrence and Susie. I received a copy of Susie’s Hope for review. Any opinions expressed are my own.
About Susie’s Hope:
Based on the true story that successfully passed Susie’s Law in North Carolina, which seeks stricter punishment for animal abusers, Susie’s Hope brings to life the inspirational relationship between pit bull attack survivor Donna Lawrence and Susie, a pit bull-mix puppy found beaten, burned and left for dead. Recognizing reflect and abuse were to blame for the tragic attack that nearly claimed her life 10 months earlier, Donna resumes the battered animal and accepts her as family. Together, they learn to heal, love and forgive as they led a historic effort to seek justice and protection, not only for Susie, but all animals. Starring Emmanuelle Vaguer (40 Days and 40 Nights), Burgess Jenkins (Remember The Titans) and Andrea Powell (Ender’s Game, The Twighlight: Breaking Dawn Saga: Part 2), Susie’s Hope is an incredible story of love, loss and redemption.
