Six Things To Do at Hersheypark Camping Resort
Have you ever wanted to visit the Sweetest Place on Earth? There are so many great things to do in Hershey without ever stepping foot into the park. On our most recent trip to Hershey, we stayed at the Hersheypark Camping Resort again. It was our third time staying in the cabins. We love them because it’s the perfect size for our big family. With six people, traditional hotel rooms can get crowded fast. At the campgrounds, we have all the space we need to relax and enjoy each other’s company. Our first two stays we visited in the fall, so we were limited on activities. Since we visited in summer this trip I wanted to share with you six things to do at Hersheypark Camping Resort.
Take a Swim in the Pool
There are three pools at the campgrounds. Two pools for everyone and one kiddie pool for younger kids. There are lifeguards on duty at the pools to keep an eye on things. It’s a great way to beat the heat in the summer without having to deal with the long lines at the park. The day we visited only one of the regular pools was open but the kids had enough room to enjoy and have fun.
Play Games at the Game Room
Head to the game room in the big red barn. Right off the check-in section, there are fun games for the kids and the whole family to enjoy. The game room is perfect to visit after an early dinner to help you wind down for the night.
Shop at the General Store
Grab some local goodies at the general store to have memories from your trip. In addition to Hershey sweets, the store offers basic items for your camping needs, sweet souvenirs, and fab local finds. I always recommend that if you visit you stop at the general store to see what you find.
Check Out Activities at the Recreation Center
When you visit ask about activities happening at the resort. During the weekend we visited there were a bunch of fun summer activities for the kids to enjoy. On the weekend we visited there was Candy Bar Bingo, decorate your own drawstring bag, tissue paper firefly, a glow walk, and so much more.
Catch a Free Movie
Grab a blanket, chair, or even a towel and head to the Hersheypark Camping Resorts Starlight Theater at the Historic Landis Barn (located on the far side of the barn next to the playground) for MOVIE night! Check the calendar for seasonal movies during the summer months.
Play Sports
The Hersheypark Camping Resort has basketball, volleyball courts, and shuffleboard courts. You can spend some time playing sports with your family and enjoying the facilities at the campgrounds. You can rent sports equipment from the general store, a deposit of $10 is required for rentals.
Make Smores
If you’re planning a stay in the deluxe cabins be sure to pack charcoals or wood and everything you need to make smores. Each cabin has their own fire ring that’s perfect for sitting around the fire and making smores. Enjoy a night with your family telling stories and enjoying a smores. The Hersheypark Camping Resort sometimes hosts a Smores night where guests can participate for a fee.
Bonus Tip:
Hersheypark Preview Plan gives you a head start on thrills with access to Hersheypark the night before your planned visit for a fun-filled evening. When you check in you’re provided with a preview pass that gives you three hours in the park the day you check in. Take you pass to the park three hours before closing and enjoys Hersheypark compliments of Hersheypark Camping Resort.
