I am all for making your holidays a little easier and much more simple. That’s why I was so excited to try Simply Potatoes. They offer a variety of products ranging from pre-made mashed potatoes, cut potatoes (hash browns, slices, cubes & more), and new steamables. I immediately grabbed the home-style slices pictured above because I wanted to make Au Gratin potatoes. I love this dish but I don’t like making it from a box. I have a horrible history with the box mix for Au Gratin potatoes. My potatoes are always tough and its never cheesy enough for my taste.
First I will say I loved the fact that these potatoes are fresh, when I got it from the store it was in the refrigerator section, so it wasn’t frozen. Big plus one from me. I can stand behind any product that is fresh. You will love this about this brand. I also loved that I didn’t have to peel or cut the potatoes my self. Anyone how has to cut potatoes know how hard it can be to get just the right size slices so that is not too thick or too thin. I don’t have a potato slicer either, those are so sharp it scares me to use it, so having all the work done for me was a huge plus. Simply Potatoes automatically takes some of the prep work away making my cooking much more simpler. This is something anyone can value during the holidays. Here’s my simplified Au Gratin potatoes using Simply’s home-style slices.
I gathered up all my ingredients. You don’t have to add bacon like I did, you can leave it out or add any other kind of meat you prefer. You can season it to your taste as well. Cut your bacon into small pieces. Mix your milk and seasoning in a bowl and set aside.
Grease your baking dish with margarine or butter. Layer the potatoes in the bottom of the dish. Make sure the entire bottom is covered. You can over lap them so that you get a nice layer because you don’t want it to be too thin. Add the bacon on top of the potatoes, and then add cheese. Next add your second layer of potatoes, bacon and cheese.
When you finish your second layer add a final thin layer of potatoes and then pour the milk mixture over the dish. Finish with a final layer of cheese and bake in a 350 degree oven.
Here’s my finished product.
My family and I loved our Au Gratin potatoes and my husband has already requested them again. They will be on our table for Thanksgiving and I’m very thankful for Simply Potatoes for making it so much more simple and delicious.
