Signing Time Christmas Collection Review

December 6, 2014 By Nickida

Signing Time Christmas Collection Review

My three year old hasn’t said a single word for almost a year now.  He was on track and doing great then at 18 months everything changed.  This summer we received his Non-Verbal Autism diagnosis.  He started school this fall to get speech therapy as a way for us to communicate with him.  As a mother I am learning all that I can to help him.  One of the things I’ve been looking at is sign language.  We received a digital download of Signing Time Christmas Collection from Two Little Hands Productions to review.  Any opinions expressed are my own.

We’ve know about Rachel Coleman for a while now, we first started seeing her on children’s television shows on Noggin (now Nick Jr.) We had the opportunity to review Rachel and the Treeschoolers a while back and the kids just loved it.  When I had the opportunity to review the Christmas Collection I couldn’t pass it up.  I figured it would be a great way to learn some sign language for the holidays and it would also be fun for my son.  We received a digital copy of the Signing Time Christmas Collection, which was perfect because I put it on the tablet we got my son for Christmas.  Checking out the digital copy was super easy, and when we finished the purchase we were prompted to download the app to view the video.  Another easy step, the app was in the Google Play store.  Once we created our account it synced the purchase to the tablet.  You have the option to stream the video or download it to your device.  I downloaded it to the tablet.  I liked that they offered both options so if you just prefer to stream it you can and if you choose to download it you can as well.  Check out a trailer of the collection below:

Our digital download included Signing Time Christmas and Sign & Sign Christmas.  Signing Time Christmas shows us Alex and Leah as teenagers, if you’re familiar with the signing time series you are probably familiar with them as kids.  They are attending a Christmas party at the tree house.  Alex, Leah and Rachel sings and signs holiday songs and then you can watch the Nativity Story from the bible set to music.  As a special bonus Two Little Hans Productions and Signing Time has made the video of the Nativity Story available for viewing on Youtube.  You can see it below and share it with your family and friends.

The Sing & Sign Christmas DVD is all about learning to some of the popular Christmas songs.  Rachel teaches you to sign Christmas songs, step by step. Sing and sign songs from Signing Time Christmas PLUS these favorite carols: We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Away in a Manger, The First Noel, Silent Night, and Jingle Bells. What I love about both DVDs they give you the option to choose how your play the content based on your family’s personal preference.  You can choose to view only sacred or secular content.  Also included in the collection is a CD for playing in your car.  If you purchase the digital content you don’t get the CD but if you purchase the DVDs you will get the CD with songs from the collection.  Some of the featured ASL signs include: Angel – Baby – Bell – Bow – Box – Candle – Candy Cane – Carol/Song – Chimney – Christmas – Christmas Card – Christmas Eve – Christmas Tree – Cookie – Decorate – Elf /Elves – Family – Friend – Gift/Present – Give – Holiday – Holy – Jesus – Joseph – Joy – Light – Love – Manger – Mary – Night – Ornament – Pajamas – Party – Peace – Reindeer – Santa Claus – Shepherd – Sleigh – Snow – Star – Stockings – Thank you – Toy – Wise Men – Wrap – Wreath.

I really loved this collection for multiple reasons, the main one being that it’s educational for our entire family.  My son isn’t the only one who’s learning from the content. I also get to learn signs to communicate with him and so does our older siblings who also need to learn ways to communicate with him.  The videos are fun, educational and something the entire family can watch and enjoy.  Rachel does a great job sharing about the holidays and sharing signs at the same time.  It’s a beautiful production and although it’s holiday themed you’ll enjoy it all year round.  The Signing Time Christmas Collection is the perfect holiday gift for the whole family.  The Christmas Collection is a 2-DVD, 1-CD set available only at www.signingtime.com and the digital collection www.signingtime.com/digital.

Thanks to Signing Time and Two Little Hands Productions one reader will win their very onw Signing Time Christmas DVD/CD Collection.  Giveaway ends December 13th, and is open to US residents 18 and older.  Enter via the tool below.
