I like making sure I provide my kids with a variety of choices when it comes to offering them books to read. The I Can Read books are great for beginner readers and they increase in difficulty with each level. We received the newest from Veggie Tales – Sheerluck Holmes and The Case of the Missing Friend for review. This is our fourth or fifth I Can Read Veggie Tales book. My kids are now really getting into Veggie Tales. They discovered a DVD their father and I had gifted them about a year a ago and now they are hooked. We hoped they would like the Veggie Tales brand so I was so happy when they started watching some of the movies we had brought them over the past year. We also reviewed another Veggies Tales title for BookLook earlier this year.
This new book addresses how to treat your friends. I think even at a young age it’s a good idea to start teaching children how to treat others well because they want people to treat them well. Friendship is important in life and helping your children understand what it means to be a good friend is broken down in this book in such a simple way. Teamwork is another trait I found in this story as well, since all the friends come together to help find their missing pal. It’s a great step one book. Perfect for First Grade. My son is starting to learn how to read actual words and not just reading the pictures in a story. This book is one we have been using with him for his daily reading requirement for school. My daughter who’s in second grade doesn’t have any problems reading this book at all. She usually reads it to her younger brother to help him with his reading.
This is another great addition to any kids book shelf and the I Can Read collection from Veggie Takes and Zondervan Kids. You’ll want to add it to your collection for sure if you are a fan of Veggie Tales.
