Saving Money this Summer: Top Tips and Advice
Any parent will know that as the summer holidays arrive, the need for day trips, activities and mini-breaks increases. Keeping out little ones entertained when they’re away from school can mean the difference between a well behaved child and a bored one and while the summer break may mean having to find some cash to fund the fun days, it’s totally worth it.
Don’t think that, when living on a shoestring, you can’t enjoy a family holiday, either. Butlins UK breaks, for example, offer affordable holidays for all ages, without shirking on quality, facilities or entertainment. Plus, with the current Cushelle competition, you could even win your stay, meaning you don’t have to worry about any last minute saving, either!
If you’ve got a hankering for a summer holiday, it’s not too late to plan for it. Even if your bank balance isn’t looking too healthy, there’s still time. There’s plenty of ways in which you can save (and make!) money this summer so that you can give your kids a well-deserved break before they head back to school.
Budget!
If you haven’t already, now would be an ideal time to set up a budget so that you can see exactly what money comes in and where it goes. It doesn’t have to be complicated – a rudimentary record of income and outgoings is all you need to see where you can save.
Sell!
Most homes are chock-a-block with stuff that we don’t need and while many people may think, ‘I may need it someday!’, it’s often believed that if you haven’t used it in a year, get rid! Not only will you be able to declutter but you’ll also be able to make some money too, by using eBay, Gumtree, Facebook selling pages and the trusty car boot sale.
Compromise!
Do you really need that takeaway? That top? That magazine? It’s amazing how quickly little treats can add up – compromise and say no to temptation and you could save yourself a bundle, just in time for your summer holiday!
By making a few changes to your day-to-day life, you will see just how much money you spend unnecessarily and, with the prospect of a well-deserved holiday, you may be more inclined to change your habits.
