Real Food for Babies from Beech Nut

My infant just hit the four-month mark and that means it’s time for baby food. When thinking of all the different choices on the market I remember when my other children we starting solids and I remember the foods from those jars. You know the stuff they paste in diapers for baby showers for the “Guess the Poop” game, only it’s not poop but baby food you’ll be feeding your child in a few months. While funny and amusing it never dawned on me that most people always get those guesses wrong in the game. Then it hit me. Do I really want to feed my child food that I can’t even identify when put in a diaper or if I taste it on a spoon blindfolded? That’s not food at all. That’s not real food. So I started to research making my own baby food and was planning to head down that road. Until I got a wonderful package from my new friends at Beech-Nut.
I quickly opened it to see what was inside. I loved that it included a personal note. I was on my way to learning about #RealFoodForBabies – Yes it’s about time that someone started thinking of food babies could really enjoy.
My package included four jars of the new line of baby food from Beech-Nut. Two were stage one and two stage two bottles to try with my baby.
The Just Carrots Jar – A rich, earthy-sweet, vibrant orange, peppery puree that’s unmistakably carrot. When first foods actually taste the way they’re supposed to, a veggie lover is born. – Ingredients: Carrots. (I can surely get behind a product like this. I know all the ingredients in my baby’s food.
The Just Honeycrisp Apple Jar – We may be mildly obsessed with Honeycrisp apples. There’s just something about that perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors, that crave-ably crunchy texture. We wouldn’t change a thing about them, so we didn’t. – Ingredients: Honeycrisp Apples.
Stage 2 foods just spinach, zucchini & peas – A super combo of crisp spinach, mild zucchini and sweet peas packs maximum goodness into every jar. – Ingredients: spinach, zucchini & peas.
Stage 2 just beets, pears & pomegranate – Rich, earthy beets love a bit of tang for letting out their natural sweetness. Pomegranate does the trick in this vibrant puree, and juicy pear rounds things out with a sweet, mellow flavor. – Ingredients: Beets, pears, pomegranate, & lemon juice concentrate.
My baby ready to give the foods a try.
His first time eating baby food. It took him a bit to get adjusted to the texture but he finally came around.
The jars of baby food we received to review were two servings sizes. They are set to debut Spring 2014 in Walmart, Kroger, Meijer and Publix. The suggested retail price is $1.09 per 4.05 oz jar. So you should see these on the shelves very soon if they aren’t on shelves already.
Beech-Nut really went above and beyond in my opinion with this line of baby foods. It’s nothing like any other baby food product I’ve seen or tried before. It’s the closest thing to homemade that you can find. Benefits of buying the new baby food:
- Beech-Nut uses a gentle cooking process, ensuring the fruits and vegetables are fresh and not over processed
- No added preservatives
- No additives
- Nothing artificial
