Queen of Hearts The Wonder Blog Tour
Earlier in the summer I shared with you my thoughts on The Queen of Hearts The Crown, I couldn’t wait for the second book in this series to see what happened next in the story. I am participating the Book Spark Fall Classes. I received Queen of Hearts The Wonder for review. Any opinions expressed are my own.
I couldn’t wait to get into this book to see what happened to Dinah and all the other people in the book. Book one left off where she’s hiding in the woods with little food and no allies at all. The second book picks right back up in the woods with Dinah and her Hornhoov. He’s getting used to her as his rider and even starting to get very protective of her. I keep having to remind myself that Dinah will become ‘The Queen of Hearts’, that she will become the villain but in this book I just can’t see it yet. I feel for her because her father is a monster, because she’s alone and broken, because all that she knows was taken from her and yet in the corner of my mind I know she’ll become a force in the future but for now I am on her side. I loved the second book more than the first.
The Wonder answers key questions for us that was left unanswered in the first book. We find out who helped Dinah get away from the castle the morning her father killed her brother and blamed it on her. We know what happened to the love of her life Wardley and we even get to see Dinah accept her faith and start to come into her own. She starts to mature in this book. She learns to control her impulses and temper, she’s starts training and builds unlikely alliances with her father’s enemies. This book brings in a few more characters and has some major plot twists that has been great for the story. I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book. I am anxious to see how the author will transform the very likable Dinah from this book to the Queen of Hearts we’ve read about in the past. If you’re a fan of the Alice in Wonderland book you’ll love these books as well. Oaks really dives deep into the making of the Queen and gives us so much more to consider when thinking about the Queen. I would definately recommend this book to anyone, it’s a page turner indeed.

The former Princess finds herself at the center of a web of conspiracy reaching far beyond the Palace and deep into the mysterious Yurkei mountain tribes. But Dinah knows something that her allies and enemies do not: that the most dangerous conflict of all has already begun as she battles the rage inside of her, and love slips further from her grasp.
