My Van Heusen Ultimate Traveler Experience
I woke up early to get ready for my interview, and I had mapped everything out. I had my portfolio with my resumes sitting on the bookshelf with my car keys sitting on top. My shoes were polished and socks laid on top, my hair was trimmed and I shaved ready to go. I started to get dressed only to see a stain on my clean white shirt! Apparently my youngest son decided to wish daddy good luck and touched my shirt with his chocolate covered hands! Nonetheless the show must go on and I needed a shirt ASAP! I had not dropped any of other shirts off to the cleaners, only the shirts I needed to wear over the next few days.
As I looked through my closet I could not find a shirt to complement the blazer and slacks I wanted to wear. I remember my wife got a Van Heusen dress shirt for me as an early Christmas gift a few weeks before, but it was still in packaging and I was nervous because I knew I would have to iron the shirt which would slow me down for leaving out on time. I grabbed the shirt anyway and I noticed it was called the Traveler and did not require ironing. Seeing that it was wrinkle resistant I became excited and opened the wrapping immediately. I took the shirt and flapped it out and threw it on, and was surprised to see it fit!
I had stopped wearing Van Heusen after college due to the fit. With the shirt being a gift my wife, she had to estimate the size of the shirt she got it a size small. I thought it would be too small but surprisingly it fit perfectly. I wore an XXL size shirt in college (35-36 length 181/2 inch neck) and the shirt my wife brought was that size (mind you I have gained roughly 50 lbs since college). But the shirt was a good fit and the wrinkles had virtually disappeared.
So I finished getting dressed and was out the door, on the drive to the interview I started overthinking possible questions I could be asked and became nervous, I felt myself start perspire, this was the worse thing that could happen. Most dress shirts are not built to withstand sweat but I was surprised that when I got to the interview that I did not have any signs of perspiration on my shirt.
So this early Christmas gift was a lifesaver because it was a quick and easy option to pair with my business attire, it was low maintenance, protected me against sweat, and did not need to be ironed.
