I’ll never forget my first taste of Moorenko’s Premium Ice Cream. I was shopping at my local Safeway and as I walked past the freezer section I saw two cartons of ice cream marked half off. I don’t care who you are, you can’t leave half priced ice cream behind. I quickly grabbed them and headed for the register. I got home and started to unpack the groceries and the kids noticed the ice cream and of course, they wanted to try it. It was absolutely the best ice cream we had ever tried in my life. I can’t remember the last time I had ice cream so smooth and creamy. We haven’t looked back since.

A few weeks ago I was surprised when the company reached out to me for a partnership, and of course, I was beyond excited to participate. My partnership with Moorenko’s was off to a great start when all this ice cream was delivered to our door. The kids couldn’t wait to dig in and try all the flavors. The first to go that afternoon was the Chocolate Chip followed by the Wild Blueberry later that night. We haven’t stopped talking about this delicious ice cream and telling all our family about the flavors. One reason I love trying regional ice cream brands is the different flavor options. Moorenko’s offers up the classics like Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, and Strawberry, but they also churn up exciting new flavors like their Honey Lavender and Ginger varieties. Self-proclaimed ice cream purist, the company minimize add ins and extra elements so customers get the full flavors of their ice cream.

Since 2002, Moorenko’s has crafted the finest small-batch ice cream in the DC area. They believe in making ice cream the old fashioned way, by hand. They use only the highest quality natural ingredients, for their custard based ice cream. Moorenko’s produces a dense, creamy, rich dessert that has less sugar and less air. These dairy products are certified rBST- and antibiotic-free. They don’t use any chemical emulsifiers or stabilizers and source the finest fruits, nuts, chocolate, coffee, and vanilla to ensure that nothing artificial gets added into their mix.

I’m a huge fan of supporting small business. Shopping local helps me put back money into my community while enjoying products and services I use every day. Moorenko’s was founded in 2002 by Susan Soorenko, who wanted a product that was delicious and pure to serve to her family without reservations. As a parent of a child with special needs, it’s extremely important to me when companies support the special needs community. Through a partnership with Ivymount School, Moorenko’s provides internships for students with Autism and other special needs that lead to employment with the company. I love when companies give people with special needs the opportunity to earn a wage. One day my son will be old enough to get a job, and it makes me feel very hopeful knowing that there are companies like Moorenko’s that will give him an opportunity to learn a skill. Out of this World Taste & Flavor

I don’t think there’s any other ice cream in the DMV area, maybe anywhere that tastes as great as Moorenko’s. It’s smooth and full of rich flavor. You’ll want to take time and savor every last drop because it’s that good. Whether you eat it alone or opt for an ice cream shake or float, you’re in for an extra special treat. The Salted Caramel with Pralines was my husband’s favorite. The kids devoured the Wild Blueberry and already asked us to pick up some more pints from the store.

While we were skeptical about some of the flavor combinations we tried them all and added a few new favorites to our line up. I’m a huge fan of the Honey Lavender flavor and the Ginger was a hit for ice cream sandwich cookies. A trip to the store in Silver Spring is definitely in our future, so we can try more flavors and see where our new favorite brand of ice cream is made.
