This month my favorite entertainment site for movies and television series has some great new titles being added to the site. I’m always excited to see what they add to the site each and every month and this month I have to say is very exciting for me because one of my favorite series of all time is finally being released as a full series. Check out some of the new titles being added to the site this month.
One of the things I really like about Mill Creek Entertainment is their triple and double features. Who doesn’t like getting more for their money. This month Mill Creek added four new double features to their site.
The Trigger Effect/Body Count
TRIGGER EFFECT: Academy Award nominee Elisabeth Shue stars with Kyle MacLachlan and Dermont Mulroney in this intensely gripping story of a mysterious power failure that leads to the social breakdown of a major city. All forms of communication are wiped out-no electricity, no cash machines, and no telecommunication. Now everything that society has taken for granted no longer works…and ordinary rules no longer apply.
BODY COUNT: When an art museum heist goes terribly wrong and one of their own ends up dead, professional criminals are forced to head south with the law on their heels every step of the way. As the chase continues, they meet a seductive con artist who wants in on the action. With so much on the line, they must now decide if anyone can really be trusted.
Mindwarp/Brainscan
MINDWARP: In a post-holocaust world, one woman (Marta Alicia) relies on computer fantasies to entertain herself, but a glitch sends her to a far-off wasteland to deal with monsters called Crawlers. She is saved by a young rebel (Bruce Campbell), but the pair are later captured and brought underground by the Crawlers. There, an overlord called the Seer (Angus Scrimm) presides over the kingdom and tries to make life miserable for his captives.
BRAINSCAN: When a lonely teenager (Edward Furlong) orders the latest interactive video game, the high-tech wizardry penetrates his subconscious, where his darkest impulses lead him through a deadly maze of murder, deception, and desire. Pursued by homicide detective (Frank Langella) and prodded by the trickster (T. Ryder Smith), he is torn between the worlds of good and evil, of reality and fantasy and, ultimately, life and death.
Mo’ Money/High School High
MO’ MONEY: Comedian Damon Wayans (TV’s In Living Color, The Last Boy Scout) brings his rogue’s gallery of outrageous characters to this action-filled comedy about a con artist who tries to go straight but keeps getting pulled in the wrong direction.
HIGH SCHOOL HIGH: Jon Lovitz and Tia Carrere are dedicated educators facing some dangerously strange minds in this outrageous comedy from the creators of The Naked Gun. With wicked aim, High School High skewers feel-good movies like Dangerous Minds and Stand and Deliver to create a wild new brand of urban comedy that’s laced with hilarious gags and slapstick!
Step Mom/The Deep End of the Ocean
STEPMOM: The story of an unlikely friendship that develops between two remarkable women: Jackie (Sarandon), a divorced mother of two, and Isabel (Roberts), the career-minded girlfriend of Jackie’s ex-husband Luke (Harris), who continually clash over the well-being of Jackie and Luke’s children. But when Jackie and Isabel begin to share maternal duties, they are forced to rise above their mutual hostility for the sake of this family.
THE DEEP END OF THE OCEAN: A seemingly joyous return to a high school reunion becomes every woman’s worst nightmare when her son suddenly disappears. Michelle Pfeiffer delivers a powerful performance as a wife and mother faced with rebuilding her life and family after they’ve been shockingly torn apart.
If you’re a fan of Jackie Chan and cartoons, you’ll love Jackie Chan Adventures. I remember this show being on television when I was younger. My brothers watched it more than I did, but I knew it would be a great series for my boys.
Jackie Chan Adventures
Jackie Chan Adventures is an American animated television series starring the adventures of a fictionalized version of action film star Jackie Chan.
Jackie Chan, an amateur archeologist, would prefer to quietly do his work for the local university, but fate has dealt him another hand. When he finds a shield containing a talisman, he runs afoul of The Dark Hand, a criminal organization led by a man called Valmont and guided by the spirit Shendu. Jackie and his family must cooperate with a secret law enforcement organization, Section 13, to counter the threat, and must face dangers that will demand all of Jackie’s daring and skill in martial arts to overcome.
Drop Dead Diva: The Complete Series
Drop Dead Diva tells the story of Deb, a shallow model who dies in a sudden accident. By a twist of fate and a bolt of divine intervention, her soul resurfaces in the body of Jane, a smart, plus-sized and recently deceased attorney. As she confronts the challenges of her adventurous new life, love, and career, she must learn to reconcile her beauty queen ways with her brilliant new mind – finding surprises at every turn.
Starring Brooke Elliott, Margaret Cho, April Bowlby, Kate Levering.
Guest stars include Rosie O’Donnell, Nia Vardalos, Paula Abdul, Delta Burke, Tim Gunn, Kathy Najimy and Liza Minnelli.
Drop Dead Diva is still one of my favorite television series of all time. I love the whole twist of fate with Jane and Garrison in the whole show. It’s a great second chances series, where the second chance may not be what you hoped it would be but it’s one worth exploring. You’ll enjoy following all the characters on their journey of love, career, friendship, and life in general.
It will make you laugh, cry, and laugh some more. The show is never predictable and leaves you on your toes the entire time, even at the end of the series you’ll still be on your toes, and when it’s all done you’ll want to watch the show all over again.
