Luvo Frozen Meals Review
There are so many things that come to mind when I think of frozen foods, nutritious usually isn’t one that comes to mind. Luvo set out to change the way people feel about frozen foods with their line of frozen meals. Luvo is all about helping people make healthier choices for themselves and their families. They believe it should be easy to enjoy delicious and nutritious food that’s not only good for your body but also responsibly sourced. That’s why Luvo created chef-inspired frozen meals with quality whole plant and lean meat proteins, whole grains, generous portions of fruits and vegetables, responsible amounts of sodium and added sugar, and no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners.
I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com), May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this product and post my honest opinion on my blog. The opinions posted are my own
Moms Meet mailed me my kit with coupons and a few other goodies to get me started with trying the Luvo Frozen Meals with my family. I checked on the Luvo website to find stores in my area that sells the product. Luvo Frozen Meals can be purchased at Wegmans, Ahold, Kroger, Wakefern, Albertsons, Safeway, Publix, Raley’s, and Big Y stores. I found mines at Shop Rite stores. The website even listed the product I would find at the stores in my area so I knew where to shop for better options.
There was a very nice selection at Shop Rite, but I was only allowed to use four coupons this shopping trip so I picked two Luvo Bowls, one Power Bowl and one of the Luvo Steam in Pouch™ Meals. I went with a few different options so my family ad I had a few varieties to sample. I was very excited about trying the Roasted Cauliflower Mac & Cheese when I saw it on the website, so I was happy to find it in store.
Luvo Bowls offer delicious recipes in a convenient paperboard bowl that steams quickly in the microwave. These Bowls feature a self-venting film that does not require puncturing, peeling back or stirring during the cooking process, maximizing convenience and locking in flavor
Luvo Planted™ Power Bowls offer delicious recipes with at least two full servings of veggies, organic whole grain rice from Lotus Foods and plant proteins – in a convenient paperboard bowl that steams quickly in the microwave.
Signature Luvo meals offer delicious culinary recipes with full servings of veggies, whole grains and quality proteins, flash frozen in custom Steam in PouchTM packaging. Inspired by the French cooking technique “en papillote,” which means “in parchment,” the pouch creates an aromatic steam that gently cooks each meal in its own flavorful juices.
Cooking directions are right on the back of the package. It’s recommended to use the microwave or the oven. Do not place these meals in the toaster oven. Remember each microwave is different to keep that in mind when heating your foods. I had to add more time to mines since I know my microwave can be tricky at times. It ended up perfect each time.
I loved that the packages included meal information like the amount of protein, whole grains, and vegetables included in meals. This makes it easy for shoppers to pick the right meals for them based on what they want in their diet.
Luvo Bowls and PlantedTM Power Bowls have a self-venting film so there is no need to puncture before cooking. Simply place the bowl in the microwave and cook for the time indicated on the back of the box. Once finished cooking, let the bowl rest for 1 minute to lock in flavor. Peel back film carefully as hot steam will escape.
Luvo Steam in Pouch™ Meals use a unique cooking process that locks in flavor and creates a beautiful presentation. Remove the inner pouch from the box and place seam side up in the microwave on a microwave-safe plate. Follow the cooking instructions printed on the pouch and cook accordingly. Once finished cooking, let pouch rest for 1 minute to lock in flavor. Use scissors to cut open the edge of the pouch (carefully as hot steam will escape) and gently tilt the pouch over a plate to slide out the meal.
The bowls were a good amount of food. You could easily share it with two people, three if you’re feeding kids. I couldn’t even taste the squash or kale in my bowl, and I usually don’t like squash. It was delicious. The chickpeas were still firm and not mushy at all. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the rice was amazing. I could eat the rice all by itself. My broccoli was broken up a bit but there were still whole chunks. Overall it’s the best frozen meal I’ve ever tasted before. My husband will be taking these for lunch for the next few weeks to try out more of the options available by Luvo.
