Living Life in Five Minute Intervals #Autism

December 16, 2014 By Nickida

Living Life in Five Minute Intervals

Originally I didn’t know why my toddler had so much energy.  It seemed like they was always filled with energy.  I have a love/hate relationship with his nap time and I even have a cut off point of how late in the afternoon he can nap.  If he falls asleep for a nap after 5 P.M. I know I am in for an extra long night, and when he does wake he’s running like a horse all around the house.  I had heard about parents using sensory products to help their Autistic children with their hyper-activeness so when I heard about Senseez I decided to give it a try.  I received a Blue Square Senseez for review.  Any opinions expressed are my own.

I didn’t know what to expect when out Senseez arrived at the house.  When I first pulled it out my son looked at it kind of weird, he wasn’t sure what to make of it.  He threw the pillow around and then he discovered the vibrating pulse when he applied pressure to the pillow.  That’s when the light bulb when off in his head.  He just had to get it open and find out what was making it vibrate.  He found the zipper within a minute and was already inside the cushion.  He likes breaking things down to see how it works.  When he found the vibrating piece that makes it work he pushed it a few times and put it back.  When he finally sat down on it we had some piece.  Now it’s like living life in five minute intervals.  Before we tried the seat I could not get him to sit still for more than a minute.  Even watching television he was always on the move.

Since we started using the Senseez cushion with our son he’s been sitting still for longer periods of time.  Since it’s working so well at home we are thinking of having him use it in school as well.  The vibrating helps soothing him and make him feel a little more relaxed.  For now I  enjoy those five minutes when he sits and allows himself to be soothed.  I’m glad we had the opportunity to try the Senseez and that it is giving us some results.

About Senseez:

These colorful, lightweight, fun-shaped vinyl vibrating cushions offer a gentle sensation when they are squeezed or sat on, relaxing, calming or soothing the body. This can help some kids sit still and others fall asleep!  Kids that have trouble sitting for meals, stories, car rides, shopping trips, school work, movies, or anything else will be comforted by the vibrations of Senseez.

While they’re great for any kids with energy, the Senseez sensory cushions make ideal special needs cushions, especially for children with autism, ADHD, or sensory processing disorder. The vibrating cushions can calm kids who need more sensory feedback or help train hypersensitive kids to tolerate more sensations.  Use them at home! Use them at school! Use them in restaurants or on the go! The vinyl material makes them easy to keep clean all day! The pillows are small enough to take anywhere and are made just for little bums! Recommended age : 4+   *Two AA batteries are not included.

Senseez is available for purchase from their webstore, the prices range from $39.99 to $44.99 and you can purchase replacement vibe for $10 each.  The Senseez cushions comes in either vinyl covering or fabric covering.  The vinyl is easy to wipe clean, so you don’t have to worry as much about them getting dirty.  The cloth cushions are fuzzy and gives kids a great touch sensory in addition to the vibrating.  If you’re looking for something to help your child with their special needs, Senseez may help.
