The Light Between Oceans Viewing Party Experience
Last week I was asked to host an in-home viewing party for The Light Between Oceans. Honestly I’ve seen previews for the movie but that was it. I’d never read the book or saw the film when it was in theaters but I figured it would be a great way to get my mom and sisters together. Our viewing kits included a packet of tissues, and everyone I’ve seen commenting about the film suggested you needed them. I just never realized how deep the film would touch us all.
Thanks to Disney and DreamWorks Pictures for providing the Light Between Oceans Party Kit for me to host my in home viewing party. Any opinions expressed are my own.
My kit arrived with enough goodies of five people including myself. The box also included a blu-ray of the film and the book. I usually like to read the book before seeing movies but I didn’t get to read the book before our party. It’s on my reading list for sure, and I plan on reading it on my next trip.
I absolutely loved the mug included in my box, I’m not a coffee drinker but it was perfect for the tea included in the kit.
The Light Between Oceans is available for purchase on DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital HD right now. The in-home release of “The Light Between Oceans” will carry audiences even deeper into this timeless tale of love and impossible choices through never-before-seen bonus features, including a documentary which reveals director Derek Cianfrance’s unique approach that allowed the all-star cast to embody their characters and examine the power of love; a historical look at New Zealand’s Cape Campbell Lighthouse that serves as Janus Rock, a key element in Stedman’s novel; and insightful and in-depth audio commentary led by Cianfrance.
I had stocked up on gift bags after the holidays, so I grab a few to hold the items I was planning on gifting to my mom and sisters during our movie night. I invited them to my mom’s house for a special night that would bond us even closer than we already were.
They couldn’t wait to dig into the goodies in the bag and get started with the movie. They all loved all the items in the gift bags, especially the candles and bath bombs. Everyone talked about using them for a nice relaxing bath.
We opted to use the digital copy to stream the movie from my Google account. It was so quick and easy to redeem and stream with the code included in our blu-ray pack. The movie started and quickly showing the love story between the two main characters of the film. It was beautiful to watch and slowly the film transformed before our eyes, touching us to our core. The couple in the film dealt with fertility issues and miscarriages. Ive never personally had a miscarriage but my sister has. Tears filled all our eyes watching the film, especially my sister. I movie brought up those memories in all our minds and hearts again.
I think this movie is prelude to open conversations about miscarriage, removing stigma and taboo attached to the topic. It’s important to have these conversations so those who have dealt with it don’t feel alone. While the movie shares a great love story it also shows us that love and suffering can make us do some crazy things.
