I was surfing around yesterday and playing my usual Facebook games and he made me think about some of the games I used to play and the ones that no longer exist. One of the first games I thought about was Super Poke Pets. This game ran my life for at least a year plus. I remember when the shop would stock new items at 12 AM PST. That means that at 3 AM I woke up to buy virtual items for a fake online pet. Yes I did it every week for months. My husband would look at me like I was crazy and there were times that he even asked me to not wake up and stay asleep and get rest but at the time I just had to get up and get the items because if it sold out and I missed the limited items I would be so upset. Funny thing is what I loved the most about the game was the people I met playing the game. On the forums I met tons of amazing women and one or two guys as well. I am still friends with quite a few of those women to this day. Super Poke Pets is where I met my blogging friend Beth at Beth Ann and Jessica’s Helpful Savings. Even though we have never met before and we probably never will. We chat just about daily on Facebook on either her personal page, her fan page or through messages. When I wanted to start working on my blog more often she offered me lots of help and is a constant source of information for me. If it wasn’t for her I would have a super Nivea body wash stock pile. LOL. And that’s just one person. I also met a friend named Lisa. We chat often on Facebook and I have never met her either but when I got pregnant with my youngest son she was one of the first people I shared with because she was also expecting. She’s a big OU fan like my hubby, so when she found out I was looking for OU gear for my kids she sent them each an outfit. She even included some onesies for the baby who wasn’t born yet. Then there’s my friend Tammy whom I used to chat with almost daily. Had it not been for Tammy I don’t think I would be here now typing this post. She probably doesn’t even know that at the time I was suffering from Postpartum Depression and talking with her kept me so centered and level headed. Then there is my friend Candi. I also met lots of other women that I still chat with today on Facebook ever so often. Did you ever play Super Poke Pets?
I miss my Super Poke Pets but I am very happy that I still have so many connections from playing the game.
Next week I will feature a new internet game of the past.
