November 11th – My mom called me today and she seemed kind of sad and down, she wanted to ask me if I remembered that one year ago today after being rushed to the hospital unexpectedly we got an emergency phone call stating that while they were running a few routine tests before releasing her that she started to have chest pains and after they examined her they determined she was having a heart attack and they were rushing her to emergency surgery. I have shared two posts about my mother’s stroke and the memory loss from the stroke but never about the hospital stay and heart attack she had less than two weeks before the stroke. Looking back they believe that the first hospitalization was a sign of what was coming with the stroke. I could tell in her voice that it bothered her that she couldn’t remember this hospital visit but she was thankful and said she was blessed to be alive. I am so grateful and extremely that I still have my mother in my life and this month I may say that a few times because she came so close and I know how much of a blessing it is to have her here.
November 12th – I am thankful for all the members of the military past and present that serve to protect this country and the basic liberties we often take for granted. I know what it’s like to live in a country with corruption and unrest, where you couldn’t go out after certain times at night unless you had a work pass. I am grateful to know my children are safe and protected.
