I Will Tell The Truth

April 22, 2013 By Nickida

I Will Tell The Truth DVD Review

As a Tommy Nelson mommy for the month of April we’ve been reviewing product to teach our children about honesty for National Honesty Month.  So far my children has read and enjoyed learning about prayers and not being ashamed of praying.  We’ve also learned about being respectful to others and not judging a book by it’s cover.  This movie from the Max Lucado’s Hermie and Friends line is focused on telling the truth.  This is a big one for us because we’ve been working on teaching out children and crying wolf.  We just couldn’t get a good way to get the point across to them and this just arrived in perfect time to help with driving this lesson home to our little ones.

About the DVD:

Telling the truth or saying you are sorry is not always easy, but it’s the right thing to do. These two beloved Hermie & Friends stories illustrate how God loves for us to choose our words carefully.

In Flo the Lyin’ Fly, the garden bugs grow tired of Flo’s flood of fibs. Like the little boy who cried wolf, Flo thinks it’s fun to tell stories that aren’t true. When Hermie and his friends discover they can’t trust Flo, they refuse to believe her when there’s real trouble. With all her lies catching up to her, Flo discovers the importance of always telling the truth, no matter what!

In The Flo Show Creates a Buzz, things don’t go as expected when Flo gets her very own TV talk show. She has to think about what to say, what to wear, and who to invite as guests. What she isn’t thinking about are other people’s feelings. After insulting every guest on her show and embellishing the truth to boost ratings, Flo realizes she owes them an apology. Flo learns that words are very powerful and saying you are sorry can make all the difference!

I loved the lesson in Flo the Lyin’ Fly.  It was the perfect story to share with our children about being honest and not crying wolf.  Flo would lie so much that he friends just got so tired of her lies they stopped believing what she said.  When something great finally happened to her and she started to tell them all the amazing story no one believed her, even when she was in need of help she still couldn’t convince them she was telling the truth.  When you lie you have to tell other lies to cover them up and before you know it you’re constantly lying.  This isn’t the kind of life we want for our children, seeing this lesson in a way they can relate to help them understand it a little better.

The second show The Flo Show Creates a Buzz is about helping kids learn about what to share and not to share.  Flo talks a lot and she wanted to create her own talk show.  She goes around and invite guests, while inviting those guests she learns personal things about them.  To make her show good she shares those personal stories with the audience, angering her guests.  She didn’t realize until after the fact that she was being mean and she realized she needed to apologize to them all.  Children often just speak their minds and sometimes they don’t have the grace of knowing what to say and what not to say.  It’s the reason why we probably don’t say certain things around them in fear that they may repeat it at the wrong place and time.  This show helps your child learn about when to hold their tongues and when to apologize if they have hurt someone’s feelings.

These are both great shows and you children will love Hermie and his friends.  To pick up a copy of the DVD you can buy it online.

Disclosure: As a Tommy Nelson mommy I was provided the above DVD for review.  Any and all opinions are my own and have not been influenced.
