Hipmunk Hotels: Affordable Finds in the Midwest

Hipmunk Hotels: Affordable Finds in the Midwest

Travel can be very expensive, especially when you have a big family, during peak travel times, or when you’re visiting popular locations. I’m always looking for ways to save money when traveling on flights, hotels, and even car rentals. If you’re planning a trip to the midwest and you need to find affordable hotels, this list with properties in South Bend, Detroit, Omaha, and Sioux Falls has some of the most affordable options in these midwestern cities.

Football Lovers Unite in South Bend, IN

The illustrious Notre Dame University is probably the most popular sites in South Bend. Football fans from all over travel to the area during football season packing the stadium and surrounding hotels. The College Football Hall of Fame is also located in South Bend, but the city has other options including Studebaker National Museum, Potawatomi Zoo, and the Morris Performing Arts Center. Avoid fall travel to save when visiting South Bend. Quality Inn & Suites South Bend has rooms starting at $60 per night. Jameson Inn South Bend, Motel 6 South Bend, and Waterford Estates Lodge are all affordable options as well.

Visit the home of Motown in Detroit, MI

The automotive industry leaving Detroit has seriously hurt their economy, but there are still great things to discover in the city. Music fans have the option of visiting Hitsville, U.S.A. home of popular Motown artist like Diana Ross, Micheal Jackson, The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, and Smokey Robinson. Other attractions include Belle Isle Park, Ford Field, Detroit Historical Museum, and Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History. Rivertown Inn & Suites Downtown Detroit is an affordable option with rooms starting at $79 per night.

Historic Old World in Omaha, NE

Old Market

Old Market located in downtown Omaha is the city’s most historic neighborhood, the area serves as a social center for the city, with entertainment, dining, and shopping. Families traveling to the area have multiple attractions to choose from, including the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, Omaha Children’s Museum, Heartland of America Park, and Joslyn Castle. Regency Lodge is a great central location, and within driving distance of several attractions. Rooms rates start at $57 per night. Hawthorn Inn by Wyndham Suites is another good option in terms of price.

Corn Palace in Sioux Falls, SD

Sioux Falls

Visiting the Corn Palace may not be high on your travel bucket list, but if you’re traveling in the Sioux Falls area it’s worth checking out. Nature lovers should add Falls Park, Prairie Green, and Lake Alvin to their list of must see attractions. If you’re in the area during the winter, a visit to Great Bear Recreation Park is a must; they offer snowboarding, skiing, and snow tubing. Sioux Falls has lots of budget friendly hotels like GuestHouse Inn & Suites Sioux Falls, Super 8 Sioux Falls, Red Rock Inn, and Motel 6 Sioux Falls, all with rooms starting at $70 or less per night.
