Getting Straight With Sight Words & Rock’N Learn

March 20, 2014 By Nickida

Getting Straight With Sight Words & Rock’N Learn

Disclosure: I was provided a copy of Rock ‘N Learn Sight Words Vol 1 to review.  Any and all opinions expressed are my own.

I think my daughter spoiled me in terms of being a good student and learning when we started school.  We had her in pre-school at three years old and she’s been excelling ever since.  My son on the other had has been having a harder time with school so when he gets home we work even harder to make sure what he’s learning in school he’s understanding.  I’m not sure what’s getting in the way of him picking up some of his lessons but one of his weak areas is sight words.  So when I got the opportunity to review the Rock ‘N Learn Sight Words Level 1 DVD I couldn’t pass up the chance to find another way to incorporate the words and hopefully get them to stick in his head.

The DVD is about 50 minutes long and it features over 60 sight words for you child to learn.  It encourages them to learn to read and sight words and introduced through songs and reinforced through activities and other parts of the DVD.  We’ve been watching it just about every day since it arrived and it’s already helping my son with his Kindergarten sight words list.  When he started he knew about eight of the words on the list – out of 68.  I was trying to add five new words each week to his memory bank.  Since watching the DVD he’s memorized over half the list and can tell them right away.  He learned four after the very first time he watched it and he just continues to learn and memories more and more words.  Since the DVD also does opposites of words he can tell you some of those as well.  The songs are very catchy and easy for the kids to learn and I love that the DVD reminds them that in order to get good at something they have to do it repeatedly.  That constant repetition is what’s helping our son learn these words faster and in a different format.

Rock ‘N Learn is offering a coupon code for 25% off at www.rocknlearn.com when you use the code JQ7711.
