Fun Family Dining at Miller’s Smorgasbord
My family and I traveled to Lancaster, PA to celebrate my birthday this year. Usually we would just stay in Maryland and head to the outlets in Hagerstown, but we visited Lancaster two summers ago and had lots of fun so we figured we would try it for a winter visit. We picked one of the coldest weekends on record to visit the state and it was Valentine’s Day weekend so things didn’t go the way we wanted. The Lancaster Visitors Center sent us some passes to enjoy Lancaster while we were visiting. The harsh weather and freezing temperatures put a major dent in our plans but we had passes for Miller’s Smorgasbord so we decided to head there for dinner one night.
It was so cold the night we went to Miller’s but the one feature I loved is the country store they have in their lobby area for guests waiting to enter to restaurant. We made reservations which were a breeze, I just called them up to make sure they were open and make a reservation for our family.
While my husband parked the car we waited inside and checked out some of the things in the store area and lobby. They had a variety of local cook books, a whole section of their jams and jellies, information about the area and a gift shop as well. That’s not all that Miller’s has to offer however, they have a winery on there premises, a quilt shop and a Bible history museum as well.
When we arrived out table was ready for us. I was very impressed with the staff, they were friendly and they knew everything about our reservation when we arrived. No wait time is a big plus for us. When we travel with our son who has Autism, he’s sometimes impatient, so we pick out restaurants based on how quickly we can get service. Our server was very helpful and explained the menus to us. Our passes covered us for the full buffet. Miller’s also offer an A’La Carte menu for guests who don’t want to eat from the buffet.
My whole family loved the food at Miller’s Smorgasbord. The kids loved that they were able to get what they like, especially our toddler. He was able to get his dinner in a few minutes and he loved the food. The traditional smorgasbord at Miller’s costs $23.95 and you can visit their website for a $3 off coupon. They also offer different pricing for children, when calling to make reservations (1-800-669-3568).
Miller’s Smorgasbord also has a great dessert section as well. We all had something different. They even offer their pies warm served with ice cream if you prefer to have your pie. You could also purchase whole pies in the gift shop/bakery area in the lobby.
My family and I really enjoyed our night at Miller’s. The food was amazing and the service was just as good. Our server was attentive to our table and made sure we had drinks and answered any questions we asked. I loved the atmosphere as well because it was very family friendly and full of good energy. If you’re traveling to Lancaster be sure to add Miller’s to your dining list, you can’t go wrong and it has a lot of value for the money. There’s something on the menu for the entire family and you don’t have to skip dessert. I can’t wait to go back again with my family and enjoy more of what they have to offer.
If you’re planning a trip to the area be sure to visit the Lancaster Visitor’s Center online and if Miller’s Smorgasbord is on your list you can find our all you need about them online as well.
About Miller’s Smorgasbord Restaurant:
85 years ago… Anna Miller served chicken & waffles to truckers as her husband repaired their rigs. It was a simple dish, but it was always served up with a smile. Today their tried & true recipes may not be as simple, but they are prepared with the freshest ingredients … and they are still served up with a smile.
