Full Force: Coming Back Strong
If you were a kid in the late 80’s/early 90’s you had to know about the famed cool haircut having duo Kid n Play and their smash movie series house party. However you may not have known the three muscle bound brothers who bully them throughout are one of the most influential music and production teams to touch urban music. Full Force is composed of six family members and friends from New york city, who during the 80s and 90s put together an very impressive run of hits for themselves and some of R&B and hip-hops superstars. Acts like the Backstreets boys, Lil Kim, Latoya Jackson, N’Sync, R&B Legend Patti Labelle, Rihanna , the Black eyed Peas, and the deceased queen latin pop Selena, just to name a few.
With so much history and rich musical tradition this wondrous band of musical titans decided to grace the world with a music compilation project in which they called on some of music biggest names of yesterday and today. Full Force: With Love from our Friends (WLFOF) is diverse musical work that compasses R&B, Funk, Gospel, Hip Hop, techno, and soul into a musical gumbo. From start to finish it is quality music the beginning with Gospel themed song I feel Good, I look Good, I’m God Good, Full Force is assisted by Bad Boy records former Queen Faith Evans and Prince’s former musical muse Sheila E on drums. This big record is a powerful testament to faith and values and the groups belief in the Heavenly Father.
Other songs such as Your love makes me high a cool duet between Tony Toni Tone’s lead singer Raphael Saadiq and I love your smile’s fame Shanice, The techno infused A night that we will never forget featuring Freedom Williams and 90’s dance diva CeCe Peniston. This album in loaded with hits like the remakes of their previous hits All Cried out, Roxanne Roxanne, and the Backstreet Boys All I have to give . The track that caught my attention the most was the cool poetry aided jam Do you believe in Heaven? this song feature three actors (yes actors!) and Hip-hop God Big Daddy Kane. Dedicated to the ladies, Heaven is a smooth groove where Malcolm Jamal Warner (Cosby Show), Blair Underwood (L.A. Law) and Omari Hardwick (Power) provide smooth poetic stylings about what “heaven” means to them.
Top to bottom I was pleased with WLFOF and I like mission behind the album even more. Paul Anthony one of the lead singers of the group has been battling with Mantle Cell Lymphoma since 2006, with the disease now in remission he was motivated to go into the studio and create new music. I say kudos to you sir and the other members of the group for a great album. Check out a few of the tracks from the album
