One day my husband and I were watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and they did a piece on Vodoo Donuts.  We both wanted some donuts after the show but of course all we could think about in Baltimore is Dunkin’ Donuts and some places carry Krispy Kreme but those aren’t as good when they have been sitting in those stores.  We wanted something different so he got on the internet to search for donut shops near us.  That’s when we found The Fractured Prune Donut Shoppe and to our surprise they had a location less than ten minutes away from us.  We were super excited and couldn’t wait to try it.  So we headed to the store to see what they were about.

These donuts are amazing after you walk in and place your order the person then goes over and fries your donuts right in front of you.  They then dip and decorate them according to the ones you ordered.  Since they are still warm the icing melts around the donuts and gets soaked up by them.  Some of the toppings start to melt right away as well.  These donuts are all cake but they are better than any other cake donuts I’ve ever tasted.  They are light and soft.  They are excellent fresh from the box, so when you get in the car do yourself a favor and have one right away.  They are good the day after as well but you may not even have any left over the next day.  They cost a dollar for one donut and a dozen is $10.50 at our location.  So if you are ever near a Fractured Prune shop be sure to stop and give them a try.  Here’s some photos of our donuts:
