Five Choices for Dining in Hershey
We recently enjoyed a stay at the Hershey Lodge earlier in the summer, it wasn’t our first time staying at one of the Hershey resorts. Last year we had a wonderful time at the Hersheypark Camping Resort, and wanted to try something different. No trip to Hershey is complete without enjoying some of the tasty meals options in the area. In my Quick Guide to Hersheypark I shared briefly about food but that was mostly about dining options at the park. We’ve tried some amazing food while visiting Hershey so I wanted to share some of our favorites, along with some favorites of fellow Sweetest Moms Ambassadors and a few I have on my wish list for our next visit.
When it comes to the food in Hershey I can honestly say that just about everything I’ve tried was delicious. I’ll start my dining series with the Hershey Grill at the Hershey Lodge. The small casual dining restaurant is open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I’ve only been to the Hershey Grill for breakfast and I can honestly say that both time it was simply delicious.
The first things I tried at the Hershey Grill was the Smores French Toast. It was delicious and I it’s the first thing I think of when we visit Hershey. I usually just have the french toast on it’s own because it’s so rich and decadent.
When I visited with my family they had pancakes, eggs with bacon and home fries, and my husband had a very filling omelet. Starting the day at Hershey Grill helps us to enjoy more time at the park before the kids get hungry since the food is so delicious and very filling. Guests can make reservations for the Hershey Grill and you don’t have to be a guest of the Hershey Lodge or any other Hershey properties to dine at Hershey Grill. Visit the Hershey Grill website to learn more.
I’ve never actually eaten at The Bears’ Den but fellow Sweetest Moms Ambassador Lindsay of See Mom Click shared her thoughts on this family friendly option at The Hershey Lodge. The restaurant has a sports theme, and it’s open daily for lunch and dinner. It closes late at 1 AM, although the kitchen closes at midnight. It’s the perfect spot for families, and sports fans to grab burgers, fries, shakes and more. Reservations aren’t required for The Bears’ Den and you can also check out their menu online.
I couldn’t make this list without adding The Circular at the Hotel Hershey. We had Sunday Brunch here during my first blogger experience with Hershey and it was absolutely delicious. This is a great way to splurge and enjoy a nice meal out with your family or just your spouse. The Sunday Brunch costs $42.50 for adults, and $20.50 for children ages 3-11. There are nine stations for breakfast including desserts. Brunch is served on Sundays from 12 – 2:30 PM. The Circular is open daily from 7 AM to 9:30 PM for breakfast, lunch, brunch on Sundays only, and dinner. Visit The Circular online to see their brunch menu and other menu items. Reservations is required at The Circular for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.
I can honestly say I’ve slept on Chocolate World. I use to think it was a place only for shopping for candy and other Hershey memorabilia before heading back home after a long day at the park. Honestly I have to say I may not be the only person who is truly missing out on a delicious meal option when visiting the Hershey area. The best thing about Chocolate World is that you don’t have to pay to visit. Just follow the signs once you close to the park and parking is free for Chocolate World guests as long as you’re in and out in under three hours. That’s more than enough time to have a nice lunch like the Chipotle Chocolate Charred Pulled Pork (which is delicious) or one of their other lunch or deli items on the Chocolate World Food Court menu While there be sure to visit the Ice-Cream shop for an out of this world shake. You won’t regret it.
Hershey hosts an annual Food and Wine Festival at the Hotel Hershey and I highly recommend you checking it out if you’re a foodie and a wine lover. Sarah of Savoring the Good shared her experience last year at the Food and Wine Festival and she recommends it to everyone. The Seventh Annual Food and Wine Festival is approaching so be sure to visit the Hotel Hershey website for more details and to register for this event. This year’s Food and Wine Festival takes place from September 16th through 18th.

Houlihans is another favorite for Hershey visitors and natives alike. Earlier this year fellow Maryland blogger Ashley of Maryland Momma’s Rambles visited with a group of other bloggers and she snapped a photo of her grilled salmon dinner. It looks delicious. This is definitely on my list the next time we’re in the area for sure. Houlihans is located at the Hershey Press Building in Downtown Hershey on Chocolate Avenue. The restaurant is open daily from 11 AM to 11 PM, serving lunch and dinner. Happy Hour runs from 4:30 to 6:30 and 9 to 10 PM Monday through Friday, and on Sundays from 1 to 3 PM. Be sure to visit Houlihans online to check out their menu and see what specials they are currently offering.
I wanted to include this bonus suggestion since I know so many people have gluten free diets for various reasons. I was thrilled when I learned about the addition of gluten-free meals at Hersheypark. Di or FSM Media by Di Ranere shared her experience visiting Hersheypark and how the staff at Hotel Hershey helped her with her dietary needs. Whenever you’re traveling be sure to ask your server about special meal options before ordering anything, online research of the area could help as well. I’ve found that more and more restaurants are adding special menu options for diners.
