Family Fun at Medieval Times Baltimore
Thanks to the folks at Medieval Times Baltimore my family and I were given tickets to attend a showing. We attended a show last night at the Baltimore Castle and my family really had a great time. My kids already asked about going back another time.
My family and I arrived at the castle about an hour and fifteen minutes before the show was supposed to start. Luckily there wasn’t a line so we were able to walk right up to the ticket window and get our seats. Seating is first come first served so the earlier your arrive the closer you are to the show floor. We got front row seats in the red section. After chatting with the ticket agent about food allergies (yes they make sure and check your food allergies and they even offer vegetarian dishes), we walked over to the entrance where were were crowned with red crowns for our section and escorted to meet the King and the Princess.
My daughter and I snapped a quick selfie while waiting for the dinner and show to begin. As a part of your admission you receive a commemorative DVD at the ticket window. When you enter the gates after meeting the King and Princess you can visit one of the many shops in court and the inn for adult beverages as well. You can even visit the dungeon. Tickets for the dungeon costs $2 and you can purchase it at any of the shops at court.
If you’re celebrating a special occasion you can also add on to your regular admission ticket for an extra special treat. We saw two young men get Knighted and if your celebrating a birthday or any special occasion they ask so the King and Princess can give you a special shout out during dinner.
The court has lots of great items to purchase to make your night even more memorable. We even saw a few people dressed up in princess dresses and old time clothing. My daughter was a littler bummed because she wanted to dress up but we didn’t even think of putting on a costume on her. Next time we plan on getting her all dressed up for the show.
When the doors to the dinning hall opened they made announcements based on your seat color and the numbers you had on your dining cards. We entered to the left side of the castle because that’s the side red was on. We were front row and had seats in section 2 which was considered royalty so we were got to go in first. The kids were so excited. We sat down and there was a program and flags at our table with our metal bowl, plate and mug. There’s NO UTENSILS – Yes we ate with our hands.
The show started promptly at 7:30 PM with a lovely introduction that had one of the most beautiful horses I’ve ever seen. When it rode by us I realized how close it was. I’ve never been that close to a horse before. It was so majestic and enchanting. We were loving it. The King and Princess entered, greeted all the guests and introduced the knights. My pictures really doesn’t do it any justice it was amazing. We got to see a Falconer that had the loveliest falcon. There was a show of horses and before you know it dinner was served.
For dinner we started off with a warm tomato soup and garlic bread. Next up was roasted chicken, then we got a BBQ rib & half a baked potato and for dessert we got an apple turnover. It was a good amount of food. It was a lot for our kids. My husband ate all his food and I had a few leftovers. I suggest not eating for a few hours before attending. You will get full from the food. I loved the roasted chicken the most. I also loved the flavoring on the baked potato, it had a nice baked crust that was seasoned perfectly. They also offer coffee during dessert but we don’t drink coffee.
While we were eating dinner the tournament with the knights was taking place. There were small showcase and if your knight qualified they received three carnations to throw out to members in their court. My daughter got a red carnation from the Red Knight. She was super excited. They also gave it sashes to honorary queens for the night. I wanted to be queen, but I didn’t get a sash. Our knight didn’t win the overall tournament but the Yellow Knight which was in our side of the kingdom did win so we were still happy. My son enjoyed this part the most. The sword fighting were full of action and kept us on the edges of our seats. You could tell all the performers train and work very hard to put on an amazing show. My kids already requested to visit again.
After the show all the performers came out and took pictures with the quests that were waiting. We didn’t even know they would be out after to show so we were excited the kids got to meet the Red Knight, the bad guy in the show and the announcer. It was a great night of lasting memories and lots of fun. Right now tickets are on sale for the Baltimore Castle. You can visit from now until September 7th and all seats at just $32 dollars with code 32SDEB. Purchase tickets online. Also be sure to keep up with them on Facebook for updates and contests. #MTFAN is their official hashtag.
