Easy & Delicious Chili Recipe
Disclosure: I was provided the Dei Fratelli tomatoes for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced.
It’s a very cold and windy day in Stephensville (Baltimore), after all the snow we got yesterday the temperature this morning was only five degrees and with the wind chill we are below zero. This is the kind of day that I would pull out my crock pot and make a nice chili or stew. One of my favorite things about winter is soup, stew and chili. Oh and baking. I love cooking in the winter time, not only does the house smell great but it helps to keep it warm as well and saves me on heating. I’ve already posted about Dei Fratelli before when I used their tomatoes for my Seafood Gumbo recipe. I was sent a few boxes of their Truly Tomatoes products to review and I have to say that I absolutely loved using them in my dishes. They were the best tomatoes I’ve ever used before, way better than anything I’ve used in a can. For this recipe I used the petite cut tomatoes and they just made this chili even better. Here’s my easy & delicious chili recipe. I hope you give it a try on a cold day like today.
I used a chili seasoning mix with mines and I also added in some extra seasoning to suit our taste. I didn’t add any heat to it but you can most certainly add cayenne pepper or chili pepper to your chili depending on how spicy you like it.
Pour the olive oil in a cast iron skillet or stew pot and then add the ground beef. Cook the ground beef and when it’s done drain off the excess fat. I always season my ground beef separately when I cook it with some Lawry’s Season Salt, and some McCormick beef grill mates seasoning.
Pour the red beans into the ground beef. Don’t drain the liquid from the can just open it and pour it in the liquid from the beans is going to naturally thicken your chili sauce.
Pour in the tomatoes into the pot and stir.
Reduce the heat and let it simmer on the stove for about thirty to forty-five minutes. You can simmer it for longer to let the flavors set in more its really up to you.
When it done serve it up the way you like it. You can add cheese, sour cream, server over rice, noddles its really up to you at this point.
Here’s the easy recipe to create some delicious chili. I hope you give it a try.
