Destination-Themed Dishes You Could Prepare At Home

January 21, 2020 By Nickida

The best part about going on vacation, apart from a change in scenery, would have to be the food. Imagine destination-themed dishes you could prepare at home to help you escape.

Every now and then, everyone needs a vacation, which, depending on your schedule and budget, is easier said than done. If you’re a person who works long hours every week or manages a family, then the idea of going on a vacation may seem overwhemling at times. One of the best parts of vacationing in a new place is the ability to experience a variety of different delicious destination-themed dishes firsthand.

Did you know that you can create many of these dishes from the comfort of your kitchen? At the end of the day, you don’t necessarily have to go to Thailand to enjoy good pad thai, nor Germany for a bratwurst. Most of these destination-themed delicacies can easily be made at home.

Ireland: Irish Stew and Whiskey

Ireland is a beautiful place to visit, which has much more to offer than beautiful castles, Guinness, and soda bread. The country also has great food. One of the nation’s most popular dishes is Irish stew. It is made with lamb and other raw ingredients, including potatoes, carrots, and onions. If you are a soup lover or potato fanatic, then you’ll love Irish stew. It is considered to be Ireland’s national dish.

The only thing more satisfying than a bowl of Irish stew is a glass of Irish whiskey. Whiskey is one of those things that pair well with just about anything. It can be served straight or in a cocktail. Most whiskey cocktails, such as the Apple Butter Old Fashioned feature simple ingredients and are relatively easy to prepare. The cocktail is made with whiskey, a dash of bitters, and one part Monin Caramel Apple Butter Syrup, which is served with an apple slice for garnish.

England: Bread and Butter Pudding and Shepherd’s Pie

The United Kingdom is known for its stunning architecture, The Beatles, and most importantly, the food. English cuisine has come a long way over the last hundred years, and the days of serving eel pie, pressed duck, and calves jelly is a thing of the past. Nowadays, England is known for its world-renowned eateries, which serve some of the most delicious dishes in all of Europe.

Bread and butter pudding is a popular English dish. It is also relatively easy to make. You simply dip slices of buttered bread in custard. The slices of bread are layered on top of each other and then baked. Another extremely popular English dish is shepherd’s pie, which is a meat pie served with a crust, along with a topping of mashed potatoes. The great thing about these two dishes is there both relatively easy to prepare and equally delicious.

Germany: Sauerbraten and Bratwurst

I’m sure you’ve heard people say that Berlin is where it’s at, which is why Germany remains one of the most popular tourist destinations. If you’re a foodie or sausage enthusiast, then you will defiantly want to consider visiting Germany.

When a person thinks of German food, the first things to come to mind is usually bratwurst, sauerkraut, and beer, but in actuality, there is a lot more to German cuisine than sausages and beer. German cuisine is a lot more diverse than one would believe. It varies in flavor and specialty depending on the region you’re visiting.

Two of the most popular German dishes include sauerbraten and rinderrouladen. Sauerbraten is a German roast, which is regarded as the country’s national dish. It doesn’t matter if you live in Germany, England, or The United States, there is nothing more delicious than a roast.

The dish is usually prepared with beef but can be prepared from a variety of different meats, including lamb, venison, and pork. Rinderrouladen is another popular German dish, which usually consists of bacon, onions, and pickles wrapped in sliced beef. These dishes are both easy to prepare and feature ingredients commonly found in most grocery stores.
