Celebrate National Gin Day on June 14th

I didn’t even know there was such a thing as National Gin Day.  It doesn’t surprise me though because there are lots of national days for all kinds of stuff now and the folks at Straw Envy wanted me to share this recipe with my readers.   So if you’re looking for a drink to celebrate National Gin Day on June 14th or to celebrate any day then you can try their Basil Cucumber Smash.

Basil Cucumber Smash

Basil & cucumber pair great with the earthy floral notes in gin, making for a refreshing & unique cocktail.

Ingredients

• 3 cucumber slices

• 3 basil leaves

• ½ tbsp of simple syrup

• 1 ounce gin of your choice

• lime juice (to taste)

• ½ cup crushed ice

• ½ cup club soda

 

Instructions

1. Roll two basil leaves together, slicing them into smaller pieces.

2. Add simple syrup to glass, along with 1 ounce of gin.

3. Add two cucumber slices and two sliced basil leaves, muddle 5-10 times.

4. Add lime juice to taste (about a teaspoon).

5. Add ½ cup crushed ice and ½ cup club soda.

6. Make a cut halfway through your last cucumber slice, placing it in the rim of the glass along with a basil leaf for garnish.

7. Dress up your drink with Straw Envy and enjoy!
