Captive Movie Review
David Oyelowo is becoming one of my favorite actors, I saw him in a movie recently that was so captivating, and entertaining I didn’t think he could top that performance, but that was until I saw the movie Captive. Based on a true story, this movie is sure to hold you captive and entertained from start to finish. I was blown away again by Oyelowo’s performance, as well as Kate Mara. I’ve always loved the book, The Purpose Driven Life and I just loved how they made this movie and brought it to our screens.
About Captive:
Based on a miraculous story about the power of faith, Captive is an “amazing, inspiring” drama about the spiritual collision of two lost souls, Brian Nichols (Golden Globe Nominee David Oyelowo), on the run from police and desperate to make contact with his newborn son, takes recently widowed mother Ashley Smith (Kata Mara) hostage in her own apartment. Fearing for her life and desperately hoping to see her daughter again, she turns to Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life for guidance. Ashley and her captor face a crossroads where they discover hope and light in the midst of despair in the moving film that Dick Rolfe, CEO, Dove Foundation hailed as “powerful.”
Though this movie has Christian references I recommend it for anyone. If you’re looking for something moving and inspirational, you have to see this film. The actors did an amazing job telling the story of all the characters involved. Once you see it, you will have to watch again just to soak in all the knowledge that’s packed in this film, about forgiveness and second changes. I’ll be sharing this movie with my family and friends for sure. It’s one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time.
