I watch a lot of television. It’s one of my favorite things to do when I have some free time. Every year I’m excited about old shows returning and new ones that are scheduled to premiere. During the #RalphBreakstheInternetEvent we had the opportunity to go on the set of two of ABC’s new shows. Today I’m sharing a behind the scenes look on the set of The Rookie.

Before leaving for L.A. I got caught up on all the episodes of The Rookie so I would be ready when visiting the set. It was an instant hit for me. I’ll definitely be watching all season long. If you’re a fan of cop shows or anything in the crime genre you’re going to love this show.

About The Rookie

Starting over isn’t easy, especially for small-town guy John Nolan who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of being an LAPD officer. As the force’s oldest rookie, he’s met with skepticism from some higher-ups who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. If he can’t keep up with the young cops and the criminals, he’ll be risking lives including his own. But if he can use his life experience, determination and sense of humor to give him an edge, he may just become a success in this new chapter of his life.

Behind the Scenes Look on the Rookie Set

Why are there so many cameras in the booking section :)? This height chart made me feel taller for some reason. Mercedes Mason who plays “Zoe Andersen,” snapped the photo while giving us a quick tour of the set. She joked that I was the happiest person she ever saw getting booked.

I got in trouble with the Captain, well not really, but Mercedes was a good sport. She was lots of fun to hang with during our tour.

We got a surprise treat when Nathan Fillion showed up on set. We were originally told he would not be working that day. As you can see it was a plesant surprise for a few of the ladies.

If you want a great selfie, Afton Williamson who plays Talia Bishop is your go-to girl. She was so sweet on set. She saw a group of us oggling her while she worked and asked if we wanted to snap photos. She also snapped the photos claiming she was great at taking selfies. I will admit she did an amazing job. I loved her in “The Breaks” so it was great meeting her in person and I’ll be watching the show every week to catch this lovely lady.

“The Hawke” – Nolan and the team must help capture a cop and his former mentor from the academy after he becomes a fugitive following an assault. Meanwhile, Officer Tim Bradford needs Officer Lucy Chen to learn to predict the moves of criminals in order to capture them.
