The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Campaign
Disclosure: This post is part of a sponsored campaign with The Allstate Foundation and MomSelect. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ve always known October to be about pink ribbons but there is also another very important cause also associated with the month of October. During the month men and women all over the country are supporting and promoting Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I’ve never been a victim of domestic violence but there are hundreds of thousands of victims and lots of them actually suffer in silence. Either afraid of what their partner might do, or shame or a number of other reasons they choose to remain silent. The Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse Campaign is here to raise awareness as well as funds to help victims of Domestic Violence and it’s super easy for you to get involved as well. All you have to do is pass the purse.
There’s no doubt that domestic violence is difficult to talk about, but with October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Purple Purse, The Allstate Foundation’s symbol for domestic violence, proudly represents a woman’s way to escape the cycle of abuse by gaining financial independence. Now in its third year, The Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse campaign has pledged to donate up to $350,000 to the YWCA for programs designed at assisting survivors of domestic violence and other women in need.
As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The Allstate Foundation is sending more than 1,000 purses carrying domestic violence information throughout the country. The purses will be passed between co-workers, friends, and family, sparking important conversations along the way. For every purple purse passed through the end of October, The Allstate Foundation will donate $5 to YWCA. You can even pass a virtual purple purse by logging onto Facebook.com/PurplePurse orwww.purplepurse.com. (A Spanish-language site is available at www.bolsomorado.com.) Each time a virtual purple purse is shared or re-shared, The Allstate Foundation will make a $5 donation to YWCA.
Please help by visiting the Purple Purse site and entering the code: 0030 and your zip code, its that easy to help with gathering donations for this very important cause. Please share with your friends and family members so that they too can help.
