Affordable Smart Home Solutions from Vivitar

Since becoming a homeowner I’ve been obsessed with adding some home tech to our home. I’m always looking for ways to make life easier with the help of some technology. I started with a few smart lights and Google Home minis for several spaces in our home. Since then I’ve added in security cameras, smart plugs, and more. I recently had the opportunity to try some smart home products from Vivitar and I’m excited to share my thoughts with you and showcase how you can add these affordable smart home solutions to your house.

I’ve been sharing lots of great Vivitar products with you guys on the blog. One of the first was their Wireless Video Doorbell. I loved using my doorbell in conjunction with my current camera set-up. It helped me feel secure at home and helped me keep an eye one of our most prized possessions when we are away.

The Vivitar Smart Doorbell was super easy to set up and use. I am able to see how’s at my door, answer through the doorbell and keep an eye on when my family is coming and going. The smart video doorbell has an SRP of $119.00 but currently is listed on Amazon for $79.99

Recently I received a box of smart home goodies from Vivitar to review and I was super excited about the prospect of adding some smart tech to older items that we may not have been able to add smart features to otherwise. Inside the box was the Vivitar Wireless Wall Adapter, Vivitar HD Wi-fi Camera, Vivitar Wireless Smart Multi-Colored LED Bulb, and the Vivitar Wi-fi Smart Multi Plug. I’ve been playing around with these goodies for a while now and I’m excited to share how we have used them and how you can use them as well.

Vivitar Smart Outlet

Have direct control of your appliances with Vivitar’s Smart plug. Simply plug into a power socket and pair over Wi-Fi. Turn lights and appliances on and off from anywhere with the available iOS and Android app. Set it and forget it! Schedule your sensors once and they’ll remember your routine until you change your mind, even schedule your sensors for when you’re away from home!

Also available is a built-in smart sensor for temperature actions! Never worry about forgetting to turn your lights and appliances off again, with Vivitar’s smart plug!

What I loved the most about this little plug is how much control it gave me to add some scheduling to things around the house. It was very easy to set up by following the directions included in the box. You download the ECO Plugs app and follow the steps to find and set up your new plug. It’s great to control devices in your kid’s rooms. Set the time to shut off a video game console or the television, so they can’t sneak and play or watch television when they are supposed to be. You can use to automate household items to help with conserving energy.

WiFi Smart Multi-Plug

Easily turn on and off any plugged-in device with a single click using the Vivitar Smart Home Security App. Have complete control in or out of the house.

When you’re looking to add automation to a number of items at the same time the multi-plug is the best option. It’s perfect for an office setting or even an area that requires a lot of lights. I plan to use ours for automating our Christmas Tree and other holiday decorations this year. Now I can schedule when the lights turn on on the tree and when they go off instead of leaving them on all night. It’s the perfect solution for controlling different products all at the same time.

In the video I shared above I show how easy it is to set up the plug. You can schedule each individual outlet to its own timer. So while my Christmas lights go on and off at specific times. I can leave the USB ports on at all times, and keep any outlets, not in use off or on whenever I want.

What I love about this smart light bulb is that it doesn’t require a hub to operate. This brings down the price of getting started with adding them to your home. This lightbulb retails for $19.95 each. You can also search for multipacks to save even more on the cost of the bulbs. I love smart bulbs because it’s so easy for me to control. It was the first thing I added to our home. Now when I travel I find myself asking Google to turn off the lights because I’m so used to doing it at home.

In addition to easy control, you can change the mood and color of the Vivitar LED Smart Bulb with your Smart Home App. Just choose your favorite color and mood-setting and you’re all set. You can also add timers to the light bulb to turn on and off at specific times. Never enter a dark home again. Set your lights to turn on at dusk so when you arrive home the room where your light is located is well lit.

Vivitar HD Smart Camera

I set up this camera at my parent’s house. They are getting older and I wanted them to get some security to keep an eye on their home for when we are traveling. Getting it set up was easy. We downloaded the app and set it up. I was surprised at how easy it was for the entire process.

The response time was phenomenal on the camera. There was about a three-second delay to detect motion. Even when we were watching it live, the lag time was only a few seconds offs. That’s great considering the $34.95 price tag of the Vivitar Smart Camera. The base is magnetic so it will stick to any metal surface without any problems, but you can use the screws included in the kit to secure it to any surface.

The only downside of the product for me was that it has to be connected to a power supply at all times to work. However, at a low price point, you can find ways to work around this problem. Outdoor plugs can be used for the power source or you can keep the camera indoors and set up near a window so it can record outside. You can also just set it up to record people after they entered your home. Any video evidence can be helpful in the event of a crime.

These Vivitar Smart Home Products have added extra peace of mind and so much more control for my family and me in our home. It has made life so much easier and I know it will continue to make life easy for us in the future as well.
