It’s funny that the prompt for today is how do you overcome writer’s block. I wish I had an answer for that because I’ve had writer’s block today. There’s so much I want to write and things I should be doing but the words just don’t want to flow in my fingers. They are stuck in my head, doing a dance but refusing to leave to appear on the screen. Here are some things I’ve tried in the past to help with overcoming the block.
Listen to music. Music seems to help a lot when I just can’t get the work done.
Use a writing prompt. Yes prompts like these help me write about something I may not have thought about writing on my blog.
Take a moment to relax a bit and then try again.
Try writing something not related to my blog at all.
Visit other blogs, sometimes it helps me find ideas for posts and I get to catch up on some of my favorite blogs.
Clear out my emails.
Work on cleaning up my older posts on my blog.
Head to Pinterest, there’s always something to find on Pinterest.
Search and enter some giveaways on other blogs.
Read some of the books on my TBR list.
Enjoy some family time with my kids until I get the urge to write again.
Relax, relax, relax.
I can’t force the words to come, I feel like when I do they don’t seem genuine and readers can sense when you are forcing something so I just distract my self until I get the writing bug again and start working on all the things I want to do. What about you? Do you ever get writer’s block and if you do what do you do to help?
