Since summer break is upon us we have been watching lots of movies with the kids. My husband and I are both big fans of movies, and we’ve seen our fair share of films. When we found out about Little starring Marsai Martin we were excited to see the movie. The movies was based off an idea from Marsai on the film “Big.” We got our hands on a copy of the blu-ray early and it was our weekly Friday movie night pick this week.

My Thoughts on the Film
We weren’t sure what to expect when picked Little for our Friday Movie Night film. I have to say that our whole family enjoyed the film. Even my eleven year old son who usually only likes Marvel movies was laughing during some of the funny moments in the film. There’s so much to unpack and enjoy in this film and it’s a great way to start conversation with your kids. Speaking of kids, if you do watch this movie with children, the are a few kissing scenes and a strip tease (no nudity) in the movie. The film is rated PG-13, so keep that in mind if you plan to share it with kids.
I’m a huge Issa Rae fan and she shined in the film, like she does in anything she’s attached to. I loved seeing her in this movie, especially since we don’t have new episodes of Insecure to watch. She ended up taking on the role of inexperienced aunt for Jordan (Marsai’s character). Through her role there are great examples of friendship and knowing when to take risks. It was very interesting to see her continue to try to be Jordan’s friend in the movie even after Jordan showed she wasn’t deserving of it.
The movie also tackled bullying and both Regina Hall and Marsai Martin did great jobs with their roles in relation to being bullied and bullying. It’s a great way to start a conversation with your kids, especially young girls about how bullying can affect people and why it’s important to choose to be kind and accepting instead of choosing to be mean and make fun of people. In the end, the movie had a great arch that showed how you can overcome and choose to be your best you all the time, even when people aren’t always kind about how they perceive you. We’ll definitely be watching Little again and again this summer.

Little Movie Inspired Bracelet

Materials
- Memory Wire
- 8mm Sulyn Round Frosted Glass Beads Strand-Saffron
- 8mm Sulyn Round Frosted Glass Beads Strand-Aqua
- "I'm the Boss" Tibetan Charm
- 6mm Light Turquoise Round Crackle Glass Bead
- 4mm Mellow Yellow Jade-Style Glass Bead
- 6 x 4mm Yellow Faceted Rice Glass Bead
- 6mm Yellow Gold Glass Beads
Tools
- Memory Wire Cutter
- Round Nose Pliers
Instructions
- Cut your memory wire to the length you want for your bracelet. I used about three coils for mines.
- Use your round nose pliers to curl one of of your memory wire, forming a loop to stop the beads as you load them on the bracelet.
- Load on the first row of beads. I started with the 6mm gold glass beads, followed by some of the saffron glass beads and crackle glass beads. You can choose how you design the beads on your bracelet.
- After about two rows of beads add the "I'm the Boss" pendant Make sure it falls in the middle of the row you add it so it drops nicely on your wrist.
- Finish by adding your two final row of beads. I finished up mines with the 4mm Jade-style beads and the aqua frosted glass beads. Leave about 1/4 of an inch at the end of the bracelet.
- Finish off the bracelet by making another loop to close and stop the beads from falling off the bracelet. You can add charms in either loops on the bracelet if you prefer as well.
Notes
You can cut down on the cost of creating this bracelet by using pony beads, acrylic beads, wood beads, or all crystal beads for this craft. You can also use stretch cord instead of memory wire if you don't have the required tools.
You can choose any color beads you want to make it totally custom for you. I used the blue and yellow to match the color theme on the movie case but it's totally up to you what you choose to use.
