We are officially on summer vacation in our next of the woods. On day one my oldest was already using the dreaded “I’m bored” phrase. It’s time for me to start planning our activities to keep them occupied during the break and that’s where the movies come in. We are huge fans of anime movies and television shows. My kids have loved them since they were younger so I know they were going to love Okko’s Inn.

About Okko’s Inn
After losing her parents in a car accident, Okko goes to live in the countryside with her grandmother, who runs a traditional inn near an ancient spring said to have healing waters. Okko soon discovers there are spirits living there only she can see – welcoming ghosts who keep her company, play games and help her navigate her new environment. My Thoughts on Okko’s Inn
Okko’s Inn was one of the first movies we watched when summer break started. Like I mentioned before we really love anime films and television shows, so it was a very easy pick for us. I like a lot of
This is such a heartwarming film. It had so many great teachable moments for my kids the enjoy and learn about being brave, strong, learning to deal with challenges, and most importantly dealing with loss. We are already adding it into our summer movies schedule again and sharing it with family and friends we think that would love the film.
It’s great for kids around 8 and older, but with any film you can preview it first and see if your child would enjoy or if the content would be too scary for them since it does have a few spirits in the film. Anime can be tricky sometimes beautifully crafting an experience that’s stunning where you don’t realize the content is scary and sometimes it’s just down right scary.
