Five Times the New Toy Story 4 Trailer Made Me Cry

The new trailer for Toy Story 4 dropped this morning and I’ve already watched it at least fifty times. This movie has such a special place in my heart because of my oldest son. He’s been a Toy Story fan for ten years, his entire life. We’ve had so many amazing memories with him and his Toy Story toys. Its helped shaped him into the creative and imaginative boy he is today. Seeing the trailer today has evoked so many emotions in me, that I was in tears for most of the trailer.

Now that you’ve seen the trailer lets talk about all the scenes in the trailer that made me cry.

Woody Looking at Bonnie

Seeing Woody look at Bonnie while she’s playing with Forky made me tear up because we see so much growth in Woody from the first movie. When Buzz was added it made Woody jealous, but in this movie he understand the importance Forky has in Bonnie’s life at the current stage she’s in and he makes sure the other toys know just how much the new toy means to Bonnie.

Bo Introduces Woody to Her Way of Life

When Bo takes Woody and show’s him there’s so many different ways for toys to be there for kids aside fro the way of life he knows. He thinks she’s having a hard time, but she shows him that she’s happy and there’s so much more to life than what he knows.

When Bonnie Realizes Forky is Missing

The look in her eyes as she desperately searches for her prized toy, I’ve seen it so many times before in the past. I’ve dubbed myself the toy hunter because I’ve spent countless hours looking for lost toys for my kids. I know what it’s like for that one special toy to be lost and we all lose sleep trying to find it. I’ve even made a new plush for my son once when we couldn’t buy a replacement for a toy he loved. We’ve spent a small fortune on all kinds of Toy Story merchandise in multiples just so he could have one if anywhere to go missing.

Woody Considers Not Returning to Bonnie

We’ve seen this before in Toy Story 2 when Woody gets stolen from Big Al to be sold and he considers joining Jessie, Bullseye, and Prospector in the museum. It isn’t till the whole gang shows up to rescue Woody that he realizes he belongs with Andy and the rest of the gang. He even convinces Jessie and Bullseye to join him in Andy’s Room. That brief moment in the trailer when we see him look back like he’s really considering not returning is so touching. Of course we won’t know what happens till we see the fill moment in the film but I’m sure it will have the same effect.

Buzz Goes Off to Find Woody

Buzz and Woody has have a very special friendship from the moment Woody pushed him out of Andy’s window. The pair have grown even closer over the years, so of course Buzz would go off and rescue his friend when he goes off to get Forky. It’s what a good friend would do and he know Woody would do the same for him.

Bonus: It’s Andy

If you’re not in tears when Andy appears in the trailer in an obvious flashback, you’re a monster…. just kidding. But if not of the other moments make you cry, this one will surely do the trick. I didn’t think we would ever see Andy again, and although he’s gotten a little update to his overall look, it’s the kid who started this all. So of course I cried when he flashes across the screen.

New Toy Story 4 Characters

Among the new faces is GABBY GABBY, an adorable, talking pull-string doll from the 1950s. But unfortunately for her, a manufacturing defect in her pull-string voice box has left her sounding anything but adorable. She has spent more than 60 years forgotten in the depths of a jam-packed antique store—her only companions are a band of voiceless ventriloquist dummies. Gabby Gabby knows someone will want her if only she can find a working voice box to repair hers.

DUKE CABOOM is a 1970s toy based on Canada’s greatest stuntman. Riding his powerful Caboom stunt-cycle, Duke is always prepared to show off his stunt poses with confidence and swagger. However, Woody learns quickly that Duke has an Achilles heel: He has never been able to do the awesome stunts advertised in his own toy commercial. For years, Duke has been sitting in an antique store, constantly reliving the failures of his tragic past.

GIGGLE MCDIMPLES is a miniature plastic doll from the 1980s Giggle McDimples toy line. Giggle is Bo Peep’s best friend. Small enough to perch on Bo’s shoulder, Giggle is Bo’s confidant, supporter, and advisor. 

BENSON is a classic, antique ventriloquist dummy, and Gabby Gabby’s right hand. He leads a small group of ventriloquist dummies that serve as Gabby’s henchmen. With no person to give them a voice, these silent toys patrol the antique store with a looming quietness that is inherently unsettling.
